Cops search pond in Bristol, Conn.

BRISTOL, Conn. -- Connecticut state police divers are searching a pond in the hometown of Aaron Hernandez, the former New England Patriots player who is charged with murder.
[+] EnlargeJulianne Varacchi/ESPNConnecticut state police divers searched a pond Monday in Bristol, Conn., reportedly looking for a weapon connected to the Aaron Hernandez murder investigation.

Connecticut police declined to comment on the nature of Monday's search of a pond at Pine Lake Park in Bristol. They're referring calls to Massachusetts prosecutors. A message left there seeking comment wasn't immediately returned.
WFSB-TV in Hartford, however, reported that the search is tied to the weapon that is being sought in the murder investigation.
Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to murder in the death of Odin Lloyd, a 27-year-old Boston semi-professional football player whose body was found June 17 about a mile from Hernandez's home in North Attleborough, Mass.
Authorities have not found the gun used to kill Lloyd.
They have executed several search warrants in Bristol, at homes linked to Hernandez and his associates Ernest Wallace and Carlos Ortiz, whom authorities say were with Hernandez when Lloyd was killed.

They are not going to move him because they are not going to get the offer the expect.

They are not going to accept 60 on the dollar.

He had TJ surgery about 2 weeks ago.

He's not pitching for anyone anytime soon.

So he shot someone in North Attleboro and drove to his hometown to dispose of the weapon?

Or is this a different shooting entirely?

Well, another piece of my childhood bites the dust. Ex Red Sox, Brewers and Yankee George "the boomer" Scott has passed away. I believe he was the 1st baseman for the Yankees when I went to Catfish Hunter Day in Sept. 1979. That was also Dave Righetti's first game as a Yankee.

Also the first guy I remember wearing a batting helmet in the field.

Speaking of the Brewers and 1979, I saw Lary Sorensen (also now dead I believe) take a no-hitter into the 9th inning in the Bronx that year.

Broken up by a clean ground ball single by Bucky Dent.

Place went crazy. Not too many good things happened that year.

That would have been his 2nd stint with the Sox. He was traded to the Brewers in the early 70's in a huge trade. Was a really good fielder for a big man. I recall he used the same glove for many years. It was almost black (before anyone had any other color than brown) from all of the Glovoleum he put on it.

Always makes me think of the Rickey Henderson story when he signed with the Mets. Saw John Olerud taking infield, walked up to him and said "Hey, I used to play with a guy in Toronto who wore a helmet in the field just like you". Olerud replied, "That was me, Rickey."

Starting with Gossage breaking his thumb in the Cliff Johnson fight and ending with Munson's death.
