Team 9 has a little better starting rotation and a better bullpen. Team 3 has a better batting lineup and stronger bench. In the end, while I like team 9's pitching a little more, they don't have a shutdown hammer IMO, and team 3 would end up outscoring them in the end. In a seven game series, I'd go Team 3, 4-2

Team 3 wins

I love the middle of team 9's lineup and I think his starting pitching is real good but team 3 is just to strong with that lineup from 1 - 9. Team 3 also has a much better bench and bullpen IMO.

Team 3 wins a seven game series 4 - 2

Why didn't WLK vote on this one?

Had to run...

I think it's real close and I lean towards team 9 pitching but not by much, defense leans toward 3 IMO... Bench and lineup go to 3... Team 3 in 7 games...

I disagree with a few of these and why did you put Aguilera against his closer when my closer is Henke?

I'd take Sid over Bruce all day.

Career ERA : Hurst 3.92 Fernandez 3.36
Career SO/9 : Hurst 6.3 Fernandez 8.4
Career WHIP : Hurst 1.325 Fernandez 1.144

Also, why not break down the bench player by player?

I disagree with a few of these and why did you put Aguilera against his closer when my closer is Henke?

Because I just took them straight down the line on the bullpen (first one listed vs. first one listed) and didn't even notice that Henke had a CL next to his name at the bottom.

As for Sid and Hurst, I just felt that they were pretty close to each other in their primes (yes, Sid was more of a strike out guy). They both had ERAs around 3.30 for much of their careers (though Hurst definitely hurt himself a couple of years early and his last two seasons). In the end, I went with Hurst's ability to stay healthy over Sid's health issues (started 30 games once over last 7 seasons).
