If I've learned one thing about these baseball mocks, it's that hitting outranks pitching and defense. The last all time baseball we did, I had 4 of the top 12-13 pitchers ever and a defense that has Johnny Bench, Ozzie Smith and Brooks Robinson, and I lost in the first round because I had a good but not great lineup
To me, this draft is pretty darned deep in pitching, so I jumped on the two best hitters of the era. We'll see how it goes

Rickey would have looked better on a team with Barry than Gwynn IMO.

Rickey was gone. Loved him too. I'm just a huge Gwynn fan. Best pure hitter since Ted Williams IMO

Yeah he was gone but it seems you'd have taken Gwynn anyhow... Obviously an amazing choice...

I would have taken Gwynn, although Rickey was one of my favorite players ever and definitely the funniest to watch IMO. If Rickey were there, it would have been really tough. Not the exact order, but my top 6 came off in the top 6 picks.

I figured as much. I was surprised he was there. It would be like seeing Babe Ruth slip......that said, all the guys at the top were top 5 guys without question IMO

Agreed... I had Bonds going 2 and I was going to grab Clemons or Johnson whomever was left but thought I could get a good pitcher if I moved back... Had I known I could have gotten Bonds and Maddux
