HUNDREDS of NCAA Football players are DRAFTED and/or make NFL teams each year. Some of them will never see the field and will be practice squad players.

The average salary for a PRACTICE squad player in the NFL is $390,000 a year. How many degrees in college will net you that kind of salary? Oh please do tell ...

Fact is, you're just regurgitating the same crap that comes up every time someone discusses paying players. If you don't think there is value in getting a FREE education ... you're being dumb. If you don't think hundreds of thousands of ex-football players have went on to utilize their degrees for non-football related careers ... you're being ignorant of the facts.

You hear all the time about the kids who screw up and ruin their opportunity ... you NEVER hear about the vast majority who actually benefited from playing NCAA Football. But fuck the majority right? :L

Asinine

Do you even follow the NFL you idiot? Being drafted equates to making a roster or even the practice squad? Keep on living in fantasy land if you want. Just about everybody in the NFL is all conference and was lights out in college.

Do YOU even follow the NFL? Being drafted = Contract

Last year Louisville tight end Gerald Christian was the last pick in the draft. His contract was worth $2,332,783 with a $52,783 signing bonus. Again, please tell me which college degrees guarantee that kind of money?

Calling someone an idiot when YOU'RE the clueless one. Brilliant.

That's a fucking joke. You even know how NFL contracts worth with guaranteed money? There's no point looking at the total dollar amount. The only thing that mattered was probably the 52 grand. And he was fucking released. You think he got released for 2 mill? No, he got paid 52 grand for being drafted. Thanks for the effort, you aren't good enough, here's your 52 k. You don't understand how it works.

Once again proving you know nothing ....

The Collective Bargaining Agreement ensures a multi-year deal. Late round picks wouldn't matter otherwise ...

No it doesn't. Who in their right fucking mind would pay the last pick in the fucking draft that kind of money. It's the whole "Mr. Irrelevant" thing. He got paid what was guaranteed, which wasn't much. That's how it works.

Apparently the Cardinals since that's the contract they offered. Obviously if you can't make the team, you aren't going to get paid. But that doesn't take away the fact that the NFL is the reason why players leave school early.

Why does that make CFB suck? No different than someone going to college for say Computer Science and then leaving early because they were offered an internship at Google.

The reality is ... most of these late round picks are nothing more than glorified try outs. Why is it College Football's fault if some kid (who had no business leaving early in the first place) goes late in the draft/undrafted?
The majority of underclassmen who declare early do so because they're projected to be higher round picks ... making more money than they'll ever make with their degree.

Most late round draft picks are GRADUATES hoping to make a team. Where if they do so ... again ... will be making no less than $390,000 a year. (And again, almost surely more than they would make with their degree)

If you have a problem with higher profile/televised college football players getting a free college experience ... go watch Division 3.

I mean ... your whole point is that we need a minor league system for football players.
How does that IMPROVE the situation?

Look at how many walk-ons and lower recruited players have earned scholarships and went on to play in the NFL.
What happens to those guys? Guys who are never given a chance because they're not worth the money under a Minor League system.

What happens if they get a football ending injury? They will have NOTHING to fall on. Not a degree ... not an University willing to help .... NOTHING.

I don't see how a minor league system improves anything. All I see is even more kids falling through the cracks.

CFB was here long before the NFL and it's not going to go away. The history, the tradition, the games, etc etc. If you don't like CFB ... no one forces you to watch it or sit around CFB forums.

the wife wants to know how Ya'll coordinate the checkered board pattern.
There's a website called checkerneyland.com that go to and you enter the section and row you're sitting in and it tells you whether to wear orange or white

Are you daft? He got some big overblown contract when the fact of the matter is he got paid to show up to camp. He didn't even make the practice squad. Most of these #'s are just a charade. The only thing that matters is what's guaranteed and what hits the cap. That contract was just a horse and pony show.

We do it for 1 home game a year. We first did it in 2014 against Florida, then 2015 against Oklahoma then Florida this year

Not sure where you are getting your numbers, but this is how the practice squad works . . .

NFL practice squad 2016 primer: Eligibility, rules, salary, more

Not even close to 390K
  • A practice squad player will make a minimum of $6,900 for every week he is on a practice squad. That equals $117,300 if a player remains on a practice squad for 17 weeks, more if his team reaches the playoffs. Teams can choose to pay practice squad players more than the $6,900 weekly minimum, but those salaries do count against the salary cap.
