Not that I'm rooting for #8, but if it happens, it happens...

#2 is very bold (moreso the Wild than the Bolts)

Is #9 really a bold prediction?

#9 and #5 are far from shocking or bold. #10 is pretty likely too. However, I don't see #2 or #1 happening. The east is pretty open, but still don't think the Lightning make it that far.

Seriously don't think #7 is that bold either.
Thornton losing the C could be the writing on the wall. Then after that picture of Mike Green the other day they might not want him around anymore. :L

The Panthers make the playoffs (probably out in round 1 though). Gerard Gallant wins Coach of the Year.

#3 is just silly. A lot of injuries last year, good young players, an organization that know how to win and most of all this is the DETROIT RED WINGS (not the Maple Leafs).

Bet the farm on it the Red Wings WILL make the playoffs.

Maybe even #4

#4 seems pretty bold to me although I suppose it's saying that he will win it, not that he will deserve to win it. I have trouble picking a winger over centres unless it's an absolutely phenomenal season, and I have trouble predicting that type of season for a guy that's never topped 30 goals.

Some of these are pretty bold. But the ones in bold above I don't think are very bold. I mean, the typeface is bold b/c I bolded them, but I don't think they are outlandish. Probably should have used italics.

3 and 5 are possible; I think the rest are highly unlikely.

Jimmy Howard is still starting, right?

I agree that #3 doesn't really belong on the list, but for different reasons. I don't really consider it all that bold. I'm not suggesting it is unlikely they will make the playoffs, but it certainly isn't out of the question that they won't make it either. The same could be said about a lot of teams, especially in the east. Everyone on this board could try to pick all 8 playoff teams and I doubt anyone of us would get it exactly right. Therefore, I don't find it very bold to predict that last year's #8 seed might miss the playoffs this upcoming season. They could easily move a few spots in either direction but if they move down at all, they are out.

A contender that starts poorly will fire their coach before the Leafs do, if at all.

Doubt Randy's gone before summer, if at all.

I don't think there's much chance that he makes it through the first bad stretch. The period from Dec. 21 to Jan. 17 (7 road games because of the WJHC, 2 at home and then back on the road for 4 against the three CA teams and the Blues) looks like it could be the end of him, if he lasts that long.

Love that you believe they would fire him so quickly in-season when they extended his contract after last season's disaster.
