Teams down 0-2 in a best of 7 series:

1903-1954: 0-19
1955-1986: 11-6
1987-present: 2-41

Come backs were all the rage for about 30 years apparently.

I think the numbers down 0-2 in a 5 game series were stacked against them even worse

Thats not a prediction, i think this series is over

If Charlie Morton shuts them down, Ill be convinced this is just that contagious cold streak that teams (like the Indians) go through in a short series

I think to have a chance at this, the Yankees need to get into that bullpen early in games 3 & 4, wreak havoc and then hope they can get to Keuchel in Game 5.

That's actually more common. 1995 Mariners, 1999 Red Sox, 2001 Yankees, 2003 Red Sox, 2012 Giants, 2015 Blue Jays

I think Houston is too good to lose all 3 in the Bronx, and I think its what the Yankees would need to do

Astros vs Dodgers would be the first playoff meeting of two 100-win teams since the 1977 ALCS between the Yankees and Royals.

This Yankee team has a 95-96 feel to it. They have some really good young players who could become stars, like Didi, Judge and Sanchez; a few savvy vets like CC, Ellsbury, Headley and Gardner; and a lockdown closer with Chapman. You never feel like they're out of a game.

I agree, I think the ingredients of a dynasty are here, and we havent even seen Gleyber Torres, Greg Bird mostly, and Clint Frazier

But the difference to me? In '96, they didnt beat a team that was better than them, UNTIL the Braves in the WS....That Braves team was a huge upset IMO

This year? I think both the Indians and Astros are better than them, and getting through both was always gonna be a huge task

You're probably right, but that was a pretty big game. No way I would want to risk the series on a shitty pitcher like Lackey.

Davis threw 44 pitches Thursday. He should have been fine on a Sunday

Maddon was more worried about the save than the win

That's a good point, I'm sure Davis would never have said "I'm too tired". It honestly does reek of over-managing. Every game is important in the playoffs. You gotta leave everything out on the field. Even if he did have a "strategic" loss in mind, it's still a bad move.

They often do.

Oh, and 2015 called

Remember when Harvey / Thor / Matz / De Grom was the next Maddux / Glavine / Smoltz?

Turns out to be Pulsipher / Wlson / Isringhausen
