Wow, what a game! I was nervous every frickin' inning! And Doval, what a stud! What a beautiful game (of course, I'd say the opposite if we lost 1-0).

Nice to take at least one in LA. I wouldn't mind another win against the Dodgers tomorrow night. Then all the Dodger fans could celebrate with us.

Didn't K-Rod pitch for like 15 seasons?
Nit if he lasted that long, but he had a very long career and was a top-end reliever for most of his career.

It was actually 16 years (if you count 2002).

Rogers got the win.

That starter minimum rule HAS to be readdressed. Rogers did great, but this was Wood’s game.
I didn't want him back out in the 5th (considering the trouble he had locating his pitches in the 4th) but was actually bummed when I got pulled for Betts. He had runners on and starting to face the Dodgers a 3rd time through the lineup but I thought, at that moment, "what if the Giants win 1-0, he is just one out from getting the win".

Yep, the game is evolving and the stats have to keep up

This was the template, 4-5 innings, never 3 times through the lineup, hand it over the best god damned bullpen in the majors.

Look what Doval does besides pitch. He moves the other guys into slots they are PERFECT for (McGee, Rogers). We are 'underdogs' but not by much.

The crapshoot of the playoffs rolls on, Red Sox wild card dumps the Rays juggernaut in 4, Atlanta looking good, Giants as well...no such thing as chalk in the playoffs as we know so well from 7-11 years ago

I have never been a huge fan of that “rule”. I don’t like any rule that requires arbitrary buckets to enforce. Why treat a starter different than a reliever? That all have the same job. Treat them the same.

Let's not forget to shout out Long Duc Dong, perfect timing to remember to bring his bat since the rest of the team forgot.

To be fair, Scherzer was dealing

Let's also give half the win to the defense. The pitching was great but the D was spectacular and a big reason why the pitching was great

I don't know when that rule was created but it was probably at a time when it was rare for a starting pitcher to go less than 5. Make then, the controversy was giving a guy who couldn't even make it just past half way through the game a W. It was probably the fair thing to do at the time but is antiquated now.
