How are they taking common sense out of the equation? Do you think Michigan State would only have 4 losses if they played a schedule like North Carolina's? Probably not, based on how they performed against tournament caliber teams. North Carolina played 24 games against Q1/Q2 teams, Michigan State played 12.

Do you think they would have 10 losses though? Do you think UNC would only have 4 losses with MSU's schedule? MSU has spent the majority of the season in the top 4-5 of the polls. UNC 5-10th. Having a better record, winning head to head matchup, and being widely considered the better team, but getting a lower seed is ignoring common sense, and using stats and computers to justify it.

Michigan State is 2-4 against the top 50. Do I think they could have 10 losses having faced UNC's schedule? Yes, without question. Could they have less, sure, but they could also have more as well. Michigan State has faced a mid major type of schedule this year, honestly, they probably should have a better record than they do. They got blown out against Ohio State, and lost twice by double digits to Michigan(two teams UNC handled).

Also, the polls are meaningless.
