So if Detroit wins 2 out of the next 3 games, and beats Dallas, they could actually be the #1 seed?

Now, I don't see it happening as Detroit still has to play @ the Giants, @ the Cowboys, and at home against the Packers, but it's amazing that we are in the middle of December, and the Lions could get the #1 OR #2 seed in the NFC, and not win all their remaining games! (although Seattle could sneak in there and keep them from getting a #1 or #2 seed if Detroit loses just one game)

How is Seattle going to sneak anywhere after last nights game. There next 2 games are against division rivals that they always struggle with. If they struggle these next 2 weeks I guess we will have to wait and see and watch the games.

Detroit will pull a Detroit and just tank at the end of the season as they normally do. This is easily the toughest stretch of their season with 2 playoff teams and one fighting for playoff position that already beat them.

Everything from what I've seen watching the Lions screams NO, NO AND NOPE, but they keep winning. Not accounting for this week, they're 26th in wDVOA right now. Then again, the Eagles are 6th and the Texans are 29th, so things are weird as is this year. Stafford can only pull the magic trick so many times. With that being said, the Giants, Packers, and Cowboys are shady to a degree. #1 seed is overly ambitious, a 2 seed may oddly enough be in play for them.

Well, technically, the referees pulled the "magic trick" this past week. They blew so many big calls that kept the Lions alive and killed bears drives. I'm not even upset about it because it's not like it matters if the bears win anymore this year.

Detroit won't even make the playoffs. They're all time epic chokers and will do it again.

I have seen this story many times.

Yep, I don't even feel sorry for them since their fans always start talking shit early in the season if they ever do start off strong but they never seem to learn their lesson. A couple of my friends that were Detroit fans just stopped supporting them and quit watching the NFL. I guess they're that bad.

Detroit problem is that if GB wins out Detroit needs to beat Dallas AND the Giants or GB wins the division. That seems highly unlikely so the division is almost certain to come down to week 17 and frankly that game could mean the loser doesn't make the playoffs at all

Detroit almost needs Dallas to lose all remaining games while Detroit wins out for this to happen.

If Dallas goes 1-2, with a loss to Detroit. And Detroit goes 3-0, they would have identical records and Detroit would have the tie breaker. Now, having said that, I think it's more likely that Detroit loses all their games. I'm just glad that there is a realistic scenario that could get Detroit a #1 or #2 seed. It's been a LONG time since they'be been in that position going into week 15!

Like I said for Detroit to get the 1st seed they need to win out and hope Dallas falters, but if it makes you feel better

There's a better chance Detroit will go 0-3 and miss the playoffs entirely.

Detroit doesn't even need to go 0-3 to miss the playoffs. 1-2 will probably do it if one of those losses is GB. If Detroit doesn't win the North they probably won't make the playoffs

I think that is what I said in the post that you just replied to. Maybe you didn't read the whole thing.

Thank you, I feel much better! I would never bet on it happening, but I can't remember the last time the Lions were the #2 seed with a chance at grabbing the #1 seed going into week 15.

Dallas. Detroit will make the playoffs, their match with Green Bay in week 17 will decide the division.
