Yes the owners hold the purse strings over JD and yes it sure appears losing Prellar and Levine hurt a bit. They are working the analytics a bit to overcome JD biggest shortcoming. Drafting and not developing. Overall his trades have been good but you will find bad signings like Prince and a Odor extension. The money Odor got though should not be a bank breaker. Astros extended Singlton early and that did not work.

My guess though is JD is beat down and lost his spark and th team could use a change to rekindle some enthusiasm. Further guess is JD has become the owners lackey and as long as he does their bidding he is not going anywhere. With new ownership 8 think that is when a new GM comes in.
Time will come when I have to change my avatar. BTW odor is almost at 30 games this year I think
