If I said I want the rule changed then I didn't say it right (but I don't know my original comment nor care). I am saying I wish they would not call fouls when it's clear the guy with the ball initiates the contact. This does not mean he gets the guy in the air coming at him and he stays there so that guy lands on him. I'm talking he gets the guy in the air, then leans or moves under where he is going to land.

But what you are saying is that you don't want officials to make mistakes. Which I think everyone can agree with. The play you are describing is clearly a bad call under current NBA rule and rule interpretation.
But like Sushi said, pretty often in those moments, the defender brings their arms down to prevent the shot attempt. It is a pretty basic human reflex. That is a foul under NBA rules. Have to stay vertical.
