the answer is randy johnson in 2002 with 334 k's
sale is on pace to become only the 3rd pitcher in 15 years to do that, kinda cool.
Who was the other pitcher?

According to Bill James' and Rob Neyer's CY Predictor, three of the top four CY candidates are Red Sox.
You ready for Klubot to lay waste to Yankee batters tonight?Tanaka is 3-1 with an era over 2.88 in his past 5 starts. Would love our rotation in a short 5 game series
remember when word out of chicago was his arm was falling apart (thus the down years)?Kluber is averaging 12.3 K/9 and 6.94 IP/GS. Had he not hit the DL earlier, he could be on pace for 304 Ks.
In other news, if my grandma had balls, she'd be grandpa.
I did notice that despite walking more batters and a higher ERA in the second half, Sale has actually been striking out batters at a faster rate - 12.5 K/9 in the first half, 13.3 K/9 in the second. Damn impressive.
I wish Kluber had stayed healthy - this would be an exciting CY race. As it stands right now, Sale has a pretty strong lead. According to Bill James' and Rob Neyer's CY Predictor, three of the top four CY candidates are Red Sox.

lol
We got Sevy going so hopefully it becomes a battle of the pen
NYY bullpen - 3.42 ERA
CLE bullpen - 2.99 ERA
You got the post AS era #'s?
that's funny, weren't Yankees fans calling it the worst bullpen ever two months ago?

Nope. They might be closer, but I doubt the NYY bullpen made up 0.43.
Regardless, with the best bullpen in the majors YTD, I'm not sure it makes a lot of sense to hope for a battle of bullpens with the Indians.
Oh, I FUCKING LOVE IT!
They even mentioned the Tribe's ownership of Verlander. Might have to beat off into the trash can under my desk now.
