He is still young and so it is possible that he could eventually round into form but he definitely has some work to do.
It feels more like the league having a book on him now. He’s a known quantity. His stuff is good enough for him to be on but I thought he’d be a dominant shut down closer for years and now I don’t see it

Closing is a different animal. Not a lot of guys can do it.
For sure but he was ridiculously good until the last 6 weeks of last year. Sad if he’s not that guy. This team doesn’t have a lot of margin for error. They are wild card level but not if everyone gets hurt or regresses

That's my thought as well. he no longer inspires confidence when he comes in like he used to

Agreed. there's not much room for erro with this team, And now Snell is hurt again. But I think the Dirt Bags made it to the World Series last year with 84 wins?

I say don’t bring him unless we have a 3 run lead.

Cardinals won a title in 2011 with 84 wins

Just gotta finish strong. Almost the entire NL is below .500 the Giants are as likely as anyone to get the 2nd or 3rd wildcard. They just aren’t on the Yankees or Phillies or Dodgers level

Taylor Rogers has some closing experience in his career. With the way Doval has melted down recently, it may be good to have them switch roles and leave Tyler as the set up man.
Or the Giants could get desperate and either (A) pick up a has been former closer who is either in AAA or floating around the free agent market (none come to mind at the moment but they are out there, maybe they even bring back Pomeranz) or (B) jump the gun on Crawford and throw him in the closer's role (that really seems like a last ditch desperation move as of right now).

I wonder if a demotion like that would hurt his confidence even more. I think ya gotta stick with him and hope he figures it out.

By that time he could bury our chances. Pull him now let him work on his mechanics and confidence in spurts.

Can't get out of it. Looks like he pulled something on the last pitch. He's being taken out with 99 pitches, and the bases loaded. Pitched reasonably well, and limited damage from Judge.

:yo:
Bullshit.

They are still tied for the last playoff spot despite the 4 game losing streak. They just need to end this streak where they are finding ways to lose and they'll be OK. Lots of mediocrity in the National League this year
