Tampa Bay has managed to have a 0 +- goal differential and is sitting pretty in 2nd place in the eastern conference. I think that this is absolutely amazing. The have a record of 31-15-5. They have the same goal differential as the Florida panthers who are in 11th place in the east. This means to me that they aren't that great of a team IMO. The counter argument is that they can win close games but I don't buy that totally. I think they need to step up there D if they want to go anywhere in the playoffs.

So I guess they win most of their one goal games but usually lose by at least two? Do they have a lot of shootout victories?

Definitely an interesting statistic.

I think that stat is more a reflection of the struggles Tampa Bay has experienced in goal in the first half of this season. Now with Roli in the fold, it will be interesting to see if the goal differential starts to climb on the positive side.

Its improved since they traded for Rolie the Goalie. I think it was something like -9 before they traded for him. I could be wrong though..

A goalie change is a major change, but I don't think it can totally account for the philosophy in Tampa hockey. That goal differential does not bode well for them late in the season (although I think they remain a playoff team) and in the playoffs.

Anaheim's in the 5 spot in the west at a -6, and LA hanging down in 11th with at +19?

did LA win a bunch of game 9-1 or something? I think them at +19 and in 11th is weirder than TB at 0.

Or does that just mean if LA sneaks up they could spell trougle for a 1 or 2 seed?

If I were a top seed in the West I wouldn't be too concerned with a team spelling trougle, a team that could spell trouble however, might be cause for concern.:D

If you are looking for trougle, you've found it,

I agree the Kings have lost many close games. they seem to win by two (or more) and lose by one.

Nobody knows the trougle, I've seen. Nobody knows my sorrops

Its not close games, when they win they've been getting shutouts, when they lose they've been losing by like 5 goals. Roloson shuts out the Caps then went to the Pens and got smoked by like 6 goals, and its been going like that for most of the season. They either win big or lose big.
