Speaking of bargains, I can’t believe there were teams in this day and age unwilling to go over €50 mil for Bruno.

This is a team that’s employed Del Piero, Inzaghi, Platini Trezeguet and plenty others I’m forgetting over that span.

Those Southampton kits are atrocious.

They need to lose the black - The kits from a few years ago looked great, in my opinion.

/Today's win likely means Saints are safe from relegation, so it's party time on the south coast.

Well obviously, more Saints games have to be televised on the BBC as Southampton is a ratings draw :D

Southampton's 1-0 win over Manchester City on the BBC on Sunday became the Premier League's most-watched televised match, with an audience of 5.7 million.

The peak audience across all platforms saw the Saints record a surprise victory over last season's champions thanks to Che Adams' superb strike.

Steve Rudge, BBC lead executive, football, said: "Having the Premier League has been great for our viewers.

"We were delighted to deliver this game to the widest free-to-air audience."

What's sad is that the average rating on pay TV is around 1.5 million viewers, and that's in a pretty well-to-do nation. It's worse in other countries on the continent where games are only available on Pay TV channels for upwards of 30 euros/mth. When a nothing game between a regional team pretty much assured survival and a team almost guaranteed second place can generate almost 4 times that amount of viewers it makes you want to punch Rupert Murdoch in his third nut.

It's actually pretty amazing that soccer has been able to maintain the immense popularity it has when access to games both via TV and in person has become so much costlier.
