The Bengals will jump to 6th on this list the minute they unload Dalton's 17 million dollar cap hit for this next year.

Trade Dalton - Tag and then trade AJ - and the Bengals would have a massive amount of cap space to build up the team and accelerate the rebuilding process. It won't happen because FA is the devil, according to Mike Brown.

I agree with you. Get a mid-round pick for Dalton (4th or 5th rounder?). Tag Green and try to get a 2021 conditional pick for him (2nd if he's a star and 4th or 5th if he sucks)- I don't think he's worth much more than that. Start signing some solid but not spectacular veterans at thin positions (OL and LB) to shorter deals with the hopes that some of the younger guys will develop to take their place, but that the position won't be a dumpster fire in the meanitime. Give Burrow some protection and see if you can catch lightning in a bottle.

Oh shit..... This is the Bengals. Here's how we'll use the salary cap. Extension for Green. Extension for Mixon. Extension for Nick Vigil. Extension for Dennard. 1 year prove it again deal for Eifert. All deals will have money up front to reach the cap limit and ensure lower levels of production later. One or two free agents of little or no value to offset the couple of no-value losses we have. Dalton waived in March as a favor to him.
