Nick Wililams in the OF?
Knapp at C
They did sign IF vet Josh Harrison to a minor league contract.
And they have youngster IF Arquimedes Gamboa listed on their MLB roster, as does Fangraphs.
Still don't understand the love for Knapp. Williams probably fills in for Quinn when he goes to the DL.

Gamboa slashed .188/.270/.574 at Reading. I think they wanted to protect him from Rule 5, but I don't think they have plans for him to be anywhere else but Reading next season.

I think Wade Miley could improve the starting rotation, as long as they don't do something completely stupid with the contract.

I was pretty high on Dickerson in the outfield mix. I get that he just doesn’t fully fit since he can only play the corners and Cutch is coming back.

But he would be a player I would like to keep.

I would also feel good if we can pull in Donaldson at 3rd....but damn...the idea of Kris Bryant would be amazing. Slim chance....but not “no chance” to get him.

It appears that Klentack made an interesting comment about Adam Haseley being in center field, instead of Herrera (due to his shenanigans), which means we still owe him 20.5 million spread out over 2 years.

Phillies likely to move on from Odúbel Herrera

Geez, he could lay on the beach for two years collecting $10 mill a year. Money for nothin', chicks for free.

The Phillies are now broke. Girardi will be challenged. No more new contracts ahead. Mets and Nats still look better. Another long season ahead?

I don't know if I would say they are broke. 2020 Salary is currently looking at $172M. Cap for luxary tax is $208M. The team has the money to at least go up to that.

Not sure if I am missing something with upcoming arbitration, etc. I don't know baseball finances as well as football.

They have 6.1 million left to spend. Herrera still on the books. They are done.

It’s a poorly run organization and until things change this will be what we get. Constantly spending stupid money is stupid.

Phillies: 3 free agent center fielders they can sign

Not too excited about any of these options. Billy Hamilton? If Haseley isn't as good against LHP, I've got news for them-Billy Hamilton is worse. If it is because they think Haseley needs a defensive replacement then they shouldn't be considering him the starting Centerfielder IMO. PIllar? Do you really want to spend 9 mil. a year to make a mediocre player into a mediocre platoon player? Roman Quinn actually has good numbers against lefties in 110 or so plate appearances, so maybe use him as the platoon guy. Or is he injured already?

Eh, I'll be the one guy that thinks they can rebound this year, especially with a new manager, new hitting/pitching coaches, and perhaps a fresh start for quite a few players that underperformed last year.

My confidence interval for their win prediction is 80 at the low end and 92 if everything goes right.
That probably won't win the division, but I'm curious to know if they are contending by the trade deadline if they might 'go for it'. Hopefully they will be in that position to see.

Feb. 11th and 16th reporting dates for pitcher/catchers and position players, respectively. Less than 3 weeks away. First rusty game Feb. 22nd.

4 minor league deals inked over the past few days.

Neil Walker for a bench bat (plays 1,2,3 and outfield corners)

Francisco liriano LH relief pitcher. Most likely to be on the roster after spring training.

Bud Norris RH relief pitcher.

Drew Storen coming off of Tommy johns surgery RH relief pitcher. He is a roll of the dice and will most likely not make the team.

Overall the FA relief pitchers market is pricey for mediocre relief pitchers.
