Yeah, I still don't think HJ is old dude, but I can see someone pulling a 'the original HJ saw the right qualities in a kid and secretly trained him to become the new HJ when the time comes.' explanation out their back pocket.

The "white" HJ was seen in a video produced for the police department, it wasn't exactly a flashback. The old guy obviously has abilities, since he freed himself from the handcuffs and was "able to lift 200 pounds", a reference to being able to hang Chief Crawford.

There's some fan theories out there that Jeremy Irons isn't actually playing Veidt. It's a fakeout and he's actually Dr. Manhattan, who in the time period since the comic to the show, has learned how to project himself as a human.

We'll see, I guess. On IMDB, he's listed as Adrian Veidt... Nevertheless, weird scenes.

Don't get why they go the race angle and then be so unforgiving to the casual viewer who does not know all the various details they're peppering the show with

Most comic book fans probably aren't into the race bit

The third episode was really strong. It was smart to add a 'new' protagonist into the mix. She works as a binding agent to start getting all of the disparate threads to move forward. Its finally starting to feel like Watchmen.

Its not nearly as liberal as something like Terminator Dark Fate. The audience score should be low because the first two episodes were boring.

2019 is such an awful year for entertainment. Everything online is 10/10 or 1/10 and this is clearly neither.

I've always seen Watchmen as a critique on libertarians and statists. In theory, both liberals and conservatives should be able to connect to its themes. I'm only familiar with the movie, though.

Yea I can get with some of it just think it could be more subtle. Regina King is a nice enough actress but that is a risk to pin her as your lead imo

Maybe that will change as it goes tho

I have been enjoying the show so far.

some of you are way too in the weeds with the show, if you ask me.

I like the glimpses of weird and really out there things.

I am waiting for the Mr Manhattan appearance now.

I like that this is years down the road where there are still vigilante's but they work for the police.

I think going back and watching the first episode again might be worthwhile now that I have a better idea of the weirdness that exists in this universe.

I like how Veidt just farms babies and keeps "growing" his own servants. Such a weird...thing

I really like it so far. King and Smart are great in it and looking glass is fun. Its interesting and entertaining. The Irons parts are the weak link but I assume it will pay off. They are not terrible, just usually a step back from the rest.

and you are likely right. Those Watchmen of the past are legends now. Having Dr Manhattan coming back breaks that wall...but it would be cool.
