Helluva soundbite

more on Mogilny:
“During the lockout, remember they had that war chest and they were like, ‘OK, we’re going to give you stipends. How much money are you guys going to need a month? You’ve got to write it down.’

“Some guys were like $5,000/month, some guys were like $2,000.

“He (Mogilny) wrote down $120,000/month.

“I was sitting next to him like, ‘What are you doing?’ He was like, ‘A guy needs to live.’ He was serious.”

and Pat Quinn:
“Pat Quinn was a great coach, but even back then, the only thing he ever told me in probably a year and a half coaching me was, ‘Don’t go to your backhand kid. It sucks.’

“That was it. He never got mad at me. He was awesome. He was a great coach but there was no personal… you know what I mean? They didn’t break plays down, there wasn’t detail. We didn’t even do video.

“We had one video when I was there for the first playoffs (against St. Louis in 1995), it was a pump up video showing guys fighting and beating the shit out of the other team we were playing against.

“It was awesome.”

On the flip there are a shit load of teams making runs right now that are fucking with what was shaping up to be a fun deadline. Carolina is one of them:

This reminds me of Dave Winfield talking in his first autobiography about the Yankees use (or lack thereof) of video while he was there. Apparently the most he ever saw it "used" was one year when Steinbrenner had them put together a reel of all of the worst plays from the previous season and they just screened it in the clubhouse over and over. I guess the idea was to embarrass guys and make them realize how shitty they played so that they wouldn't do it again. My father would definitely approve of this skill and character building "technique"

If Carlyle isn’t fired after today’s game something is seriously wrong with that entire organization.

I can't believe the guys on that team can't rally behind a solid character guy like Ryan Kesler.

Id say they are following keslers lead. Cashing cheques when they should have retired last season :thumb:

I've said it before, but it bears repeating - Mark Stone needs to join his brother in Calgary.

That Kneel contract will make it tough. At this point he is the offensive version of Dion Phaneuf or Jack Johnson.

You got that right - To be fair, Kneel has played better in the last 8 games or so, but it needs to be start showing up on the scoresheet.
