At best, Kapernick turns them into a 6-10 team, so I don't think they would risk the backlash for a chance to lessen their position in the draft

Even if JG was healthy and good, that roster doesn't have the looks of a playoff roster in that NFC

I think Kapernick paid his dues and deserves back in, just don't see much sense in the Niners doing it

Kaep doesn’t really fit into their offense. It wouldn’t make sense to pick up a guy as a bandaid and then restructure your offense around him.

Best thing the 49ers can do at this point is lose the rest of their games and take one of the many talented edge rushers in the top 5 and a WR or OL with an early 2nd.

The end of the season blip created some anticipation of maybe the 49ers being further along than maybe they really are.

Kaep...SF is the one fan base that probably welcomes him back....if he really wants to get back in the league, he's going to have to sell himself low I think.

Agreed, I liked them maybe more than I should have, that defense needs a lotta work

The loss of Mckinnon and JG, I think the offense when complete was postseason caliber

From a football standpoint, he makes no sense. Kyle Shanahan has already shot it down due to the incessant cries for him to get signed somewhere in the universe. The Niners were in a similar position as the Packers in that the QB is/was by far the biggest reason for their success.

The silver lining in the cloud is that while the season is lost, it does set them up to grab some edge rush talent in next years draft which is loaded with said position.

Assuming JG played all season like last few games of last season JG. I'm still not 100% sure I know what JG is going to do from game to game.

I thought they were a year away regardless.
