Watching Hamilton take 3 pitches down the middle, turn to the umpire and walk back to the dugout as if that's what is expected of him ... I just got called out on strikes, oh fucking well ... is the reason teams are in last place instead of contending.

Outfielders who bobble the ball, miss the cutoff, infielders who don't field the cutoff because nobody told them to ... and getting 2 or 3 hits in an entire game .... and we really expect this will change with another winter?

I spent the last couple minutes staring at the screen trying to figure out what I wanted to say. This is all I could come up with.

This team sucks!!

It looks to me like they are in off season mode, just going through the motions, and doing what they are being paid for.

I'm still scratching my head try to figure out In the 7th inning when a guy triples on a bloop hit. then an intentional walk and then an intentional stolen base. I know they were worried about the runner on 3rd stealing home. At this point in the season you would expect better than that.

I am thinking there should be a major overhaul this winter, because something is not right with this team. On all sides, offense, defense, and pitching, manager, coaching, and FO, what is it now 4 shutouts in 6 games, something like that. 90+ loses 4 years in a row. Fans deserve better than that.

Could be the Owner wants to move the team and this is the way to do it.

The inevitable 'why bother' would set in without anybody really noticing, though players at the pro level don't do that. I think it's emotional fatigue, knowing there's no 'there' there for the last 2 weeks.

I think the Reds played pretty well against the Cubs, so I was kinda proud of that.

The games against the Brewers were an insult for most of the season. They aren't that much better but it's like they know what the pitcher is about to throw. They outrun the defense, steal almost at will and generally embarrass the Reds.

The Reds also kicked the Cardinals in the nuts too, so I was real happy with that. The Dodger games were a bit of a freak show. Other teams like the Phils and Pirates are beating the Reds with magic, certainly not more talent.

The impact of this is -- that's on the dugout staff. Whoever takes over in 2019 needs to instill a winning spirit. If the owners is involved in that, he's the problem -- not the solution.

Most of my last post was out of frustration from watching the last three innings of last nights game. I believe the offense is in good shape for the most part, Need to work on hitting with RISP. Pitching is what it is.

Winker makes the offense better. Suarez is out of gas. Votto isn't far behind. Scooter is trying too hard to win the batting title and probably has lost it.

Miami takes out Hernandez, puts Guerrero in his place.
Reds take out Hernandez for pinch hitter named Guerrero.

Reed pitched well last night, sort of wish they would have left him in there a little longer. I think Reed if he doesn't start next year will be in the bullpen.

Votto, Barnhart, Suarez. need to rest up a bit none of the games mean anything the rest of the way.

The rest would matter at some point but I think it's also an issue of guys being paid very well to go to work.
If I run a company and pay the workers, I expect them to come to work. This is probably not a fair comparison since they do put in their work every day, the game being a small part of it. But the other point is the guys they brought up from the minors are just not very good. I mean, what was the point? To show that the Louisville team's record was bad because they players are terrible? If they wanted to prove that, Gab Guerrero is classic. He couldn't hit .180 over a whole season.

I assume folks who read this watched the game. The appeal play on the illegal slide ... the 2nd base umpire was staring right at the play, made the call. The first base up was staring right at it, made the safe call at 1st base. They had to let some people in "New York" get the call right for them. Do these lazy ass umpires even give a shit if they make the right call or not? It was up to Riggleman to even point it out for them. The next person who tells me the umps "just want to get it right" are full of it. Either that was an illlegal slide or it wasn't and if it was that obvious to Riggleman in the dugout, what the hell was the ump looking at 5 feet away from it, looking straight at the slide?

By rule it should have been called. I have no idea why 4 umpires failed to make the call. You'd think one of them would have noticed the baserunner tumbling past the bag.

Personally I don't like the rule as written. I think there should have to be intent to cause injury in the umpire's judgement. Then again, what's the odds of the umpire using proper judgement when he doesn't even know there was a rule violation?

Well, it only took until the top of the 8th inning, but at least they scored.

Gabby hits his first career HR. The negotiations to retrieve the ball is more interesting than the game.

When a team is in the midst of a 90+ losing season and gets shutout 5 times on a September road trip it's the kind of thing that might get a manager fired. If you're an interim manager it should be automatic.

But the reality is firing Riggleman is not going to improve the talent level of this club. It's not as if this club is riddled with injury or missing key components. The team may add a pitcher or two, but for the most part the bulk of the roster is already in place. Other than Senzel there's really no one waiting in the wings. I don't see a major roster shakeup this off season and I don't see this team making a significant improvement next year.

Even if they upgrade just a little, consider -- the Brewers literally remade their starting lineup within a month's time and only gave up Villar to accomplish it.

Personally I've loss faith in what this club's FO is doing. It doesn't deter my intetest, but I'm not optimistic in the short term outcome. The losing doesn't bother me near as much as the incompetence exhibited by ownership down.

The Brewers hired David Stearns the same fall the Reds promoted Dick Williams. Three years later the Brewers are printing playoff tickets and the Reds don't understand why they're losing 90+ for the 4th year in a row.

I see the Reds still have 2 games with the Royals, They might get a win here. but the way they played the Marlins, its a toss up.

Doesn't seem much to get excited about for next year. Bet it will show in the season ticket sales for next year. I'm not sure what they can do to get the fans to the ball park next year? maybe bring in some sort of side show or something. Dress the players up as clowns. (Sarcasm)
