As is all this discussion about it, but its the reason were here posting
Edit I think the Bears made the right move BTW if you don't have a franchise QB you better do what you can to get one
I agree. There's just people who get too wrapped up into grading drafts immediately.
And yeah... there's arguments to be made for both sides of the Bears move on Thursday night. There's a lot of elements that play into how the fan-base reacted. It was completely unexpected, to start with. The talks circling the team said that drafting a QB was very unlikely. Also, the average fan that doesn't really get why they had to move up a spot, has a hard time swallowing the draft picks they gave up to "only move up one spot".
The reality is, the rumor was the Bears wanted to trade down for quite a while leading up to the draft. They had fielded a lot of calls on teams wanting to move up to #3 to take Trubisky. They knew SF was getting those calls as well, and the only way to assure that they got him was to move up to #2. Now... did they get taken advantage of a bit when they agreed to give up two 3rd's and a 4th? Perhaps. However, those picks will be a distant memory if Trubisky turns into a legit QB.
I'm not in love with Trubisky, but even when I never imagined we'd take him. He was my #1 QB on the board. I also like that we have Glennon on a one year/option deal to bridge the gap, as inexperience is really the only knock against him. If he would have had two seasons like he did in 2016, he may have been the consensus #1 overall. Things are moving fast for him, so I like naming Glennon the starter immediately and not applying the big pressure to the kid immediately. Let him hold a clipboard and soak in the NFL environment.
He's also the polar opposite personality of Cutler, which will be a breath of fresh air. Kid is firey and extremely humble. Was referring to Ryan Pace, the GM as "Mr. Pace" until he was told not to anymore. lol.
We'll see... it was a reach, but the one thing this regime has actually been good at, is talent evaluation in their first two drafts prior to this. I'm not going to jump on them, without seeing the kid play.
The Bears fans who booed the kid when he was shown on the jumbo-tron at the Bulls game the other day, should be ashamed of themselves.
