US ARMY retired /mod.
no they transition him for 28 million which is cheaper then the tag. not saying its not important but they dont "have to do it by the draft " by any meansIf he doesn't sign by July 15th then he has to play on the tag and wait until after the season to work out a long term deal, right??
If this scenario plays out, the team has to franchise him AGAIN, pay him an even more ridiculous amount (what like a 40-50% raise), or transition tag him at which point he can test the market. He would definitely go shopping and at least test the waters for a better situation. Does that sound right?
So...how is there not a sense of urgency to sign him LT before July 15th??
