Pryor was a very good signing what do you mean?

it remains to be seen how "good" he is as a WR, that's what I meant. If we are talking stealing an inexpensive speedy, big bodied target on the worst team in football last year, than yeah it was a good signing.

He is a good receiver though.

Now go sign Hankins somehow

Honestly, they have so many DBs they can cut, Lavuo and Hall can be restructured.
Only problem is he doesn't want a one year deal. I'd probably feel a sense of satisfaction in FA if they got him though.

I might have spoken too soon about re-doing mocks. Apparently it's just a 1 year deal. Can't say I'm crazy about these 1 year deals, but 1 year's better than nothing. The odd thing here is - he signed last year with Buffalo for 1 year - so since he had a Pro Bowl year, shouldn't he be getting a big long-term contract? Why would no other team offer him more than 1 year? And supposedly just for around 4.5 mil. Seems very odd.

And this is why IM not calling this signing or the Pryor signing slam dunks. Two problems I have with the one year deals, and Franchising Kirk again for that matter.

1. If these guys all work out, we are back in the same position next year, needing an ILB, WR and QB. If they fail, well same result.

2. A guy on a one year deal is likely more concerned with his individual performance over that of the team goal. Yes i do include Kirk in this if he plays out this season on the tag. We have set up a situation where these guys are playing more for the next contract than for the team. So they might perform great as individual players... Brown excelled on a middle of the pack Defense last year.

So no Im not a big fan of the prove it and get paid concept, because more often than not guys prove it and we are back looking to fill that position next season.

More and more FAs taking the 1 yr deal these days if they can't get the $ they want.

Not a fan of renting cars, or Contract to hire positions. At the end of the day, sure I could end up having to pay for a new car out of pocket if mine dies. And I could end up looking for a new job if my permanent gig lets me go. But I think the one year deal in the end costs you more in money and resources.

Seems like the trend tho, so even more important to draft well.

So basically the only positions we can rule out as a possibility at #17 are K and P. Every other spot on the team is still in play. :pound:
