Any interest in DT Jared Odrick? Article on profootball says he is 29 and led the Jags in sacks in 2015 before getting injured. I am not following the FA market and do not follow the Jaguars closely.

Its a guy we should look at. Especially if we lose Baker.

Any move that would leave open the possibility that we ignore the D-line in the draft.. should not be an option. We been avoiding drafting D-line for years now. So if we are going to bring in a Free Agent, it has to be a top talent. Otherwise I just as soon we look to the draft.

I could see Odrick as a rotational guy, but if we are going to sign him with the intention for him to start.....pass.

What do you mean pass? If Baker leaves for FA Ordick would be the best DE on our roster including the #17 over all pick if we took a De at #17. I don't see S.Thomas slipping to #17. McDowell is a possibility but some are calling him a boom or bust player.

If Ordrick is cheaper than Baker I would sign Ordrick. The rotational guys are RJF and Hood.

Exactly what i said.. Pass. He is 29 years old, only played in six games this past season and likely wont come cheap. Yes we need talent on the D-line.. but we also need youth. So if we are signing him to start.. I would rather draft a starter.

I know there was buzz around him coming here some time ago, I think that has fizzled out.
There may be better fits to transition to DE

I think he will come cheap b/c of his age and injury history. Plus he is coming off an down year. that matters.

We dont need another Ziggy. We need starters that start because they deserve to start. Not because they were a big name once and we decided to not invest in the D-line again. So as I said, if the plan is, he comes in cheap as a backup who has to earn a roster spot... fine.

If the idea is to sign him on the cheap and think he might be a viable starter... pass.

Thanks, but we already have enough backups starting on our front seven already. As an upgrade to a backup, possibly, but what we need more than anyhing else is the energy, speed, hunger and exuberance of youth. Dude is 29 and looking to get paid on his likely final contract. A far different motivation, than a young hungry lion.

SN: When Jacksonville cuts someone is it he or they that becomes a Jag-off?:D

Agree that we need to devote an early round pick to the D-Line (preferable 1st or 2nd), but also supplement through free agency. It shows in his stats on espn that he was a pretty reliable starter playing 16 out of 16 games until last year, decent tackles and maybe slightly better sacks then Bakers numbers. I like RJF as a strong rotational guy for us right now, maybe we need someone a bit younger than Odrick as a starter who has more impact. I'd like to retain Baker as I am a fan of his play and he has shown to have a good motor.

It shows him playing DE for the Jags as a starter, but I guess in the past he played interior at Miami.

Yeah, the age factor does not help us. But if we team him up with a youngster from the draft I wonder if it would work out. Maybe better options elsewhere in FA, and it's still early.

pass we need legit starters not rotational players

We need both. But I only go after Odrick if he KNOWS he is coming in as a backup, and us having him does not make some one think we can ignore D-line AGAIN in the draft.
