I'll chime in. The only way you take that offer is if you have decided that you are starting from ground zero and planning to rebuild again. You have immediately put your head coach in a lame duck situation. So unless the plan is to fire Gruden at the end of the season and start over with a new coach next year, even with the two first rounders its a bad deal.

Yea a little money. Because at the end of the day you are going to have to put some one back there. So unless you are planning to draft a rookie or roll with McCoy, you might save $40M (of Dan Snyders money by the way), but again you have made the team worse.

I can say that the odds of us being worse are alot higher than us some how magically winning 13 games and going to the Super Bowl.

Fact, we will likely have at least 1 and possibly two new starters at WR.
Fact, we will likely have as many as five new starters on Defense.
Fact, we will be installing a different defense, or at minimum modified.

Add to this a new QB that in the BEST case scenario is a guy who is currently our backup. Worst case its a rookie or some journeyman who is actually having to learn our offense.

None of this adds up to the team actually improving on the last two years..... unless of course we are going back to the winning off the field mentality where it looks awesome on paper. We get to proclaim we "WON" the off season, then by week nine we are wondering ow we can "WIN" the next off season.

No one is saying KC is a bum. If the Skins don't want to give the guy 90mg that is why he will be traded for two firsts. Simple as that. With the non-exclusive tag it allows teams to send in bids to see his true market value. If we think its fair market value for the player we sign him. If the number gets crazy we get two first round picks. Why is this so hard to understand?

Brees
Flacco
Rodgers
Big Ben
Wilson

Out of that group only Flacco can be considered avg & none are journeymen. Special circumstances for Flacco since he had a once-in-a lifetime playoff run. Sure - you can get to the playoffs & lose out early w/ an avg or worse QB like the Chiefs or Texans but what is the pt in that if you are going to never really have a legit shot at the SB.

I maintain that with other improvements in the team Cousins is capable of making the SB & several ex-players & media members agree.

I agree. But unlike when we allowed ourselves to be raped by the Rams, there wont be 3-4 teams trying to outbid each other for Cousins services.

This will be more like Cousins meeting with one or two teams, and then those teams saying... here is what we will offer. If the only team to call is the Browns, I expect Kirk to just sign the tag offer and say, see you next season.


Remember we only get compensation if Kirk signs an offer sheet from another team and we decide not to match it. If IM the Niners, I hammer out what Im willing to give the Skins long before I give Kirk an offer sheet and IM fully assured that the Skins wouldnt just match my offer.

Again much like the Bailey thing, I dont see us getting two first rounders for a guy we are apparently only lukewarm on. Which is what the non exclusive tag would tell me.
