I think it has more to do with the 5 day lull in games. They probably got together after the Leafs game Saturday and then spent the last day making contingency plans.

If they had announced it at 9:30 pm Sunday night, it would be a little different lol.

That also would have made a lot more sense though, because it gives the new/interim coach a lot more time to get in there and start working with the players during the break.

Didn't Tippett also pick up a AGM title to go with his head coaching title? He'll be there as long as there still is a team in Glendale.
