Easier opponent, did what they were supposed to do. Five picks. Completely different defense with Compton in there.

150 yds rushing is still a concern. But they came up with some big stops. Gotta give some props to Barry. Finally realized the qb we were playing against would make mistakes if we forced him, which we did. While only one sack, he was pressured most of the time.

True, but how ofter have we seen our defense make the struggling player look like something from a Video Game?? Wasnt perfect, but if we get that kind of effort next week, IM good with our chances.

True, I am not complaining. Just pointing out that Barkley aided the D quite a bit. It was good to see them not drop picks and it was good to see Barkley overthrow wide open receivers or to well covered receivers. How often have we executed triple coverage and then have the QB throw to that receiver. :suds:

Yeah I have to give Barkley most of the credit, one of the worst QB performances in memory and clearly the difference in the game.. Norman made a great play on Breeland's pick but the other 4 were gift wrapped with a Christmas bow. I just can't credit a defense when their QB misses wide open receivers. No pass rush, little run defense. Lather, rinse, repeat.

No doubt. But we finally schemed a QB so as not to give him the time and opportunity to look like the next Bart Starr. Instead of us making Barkely look like an all pro, he made our putrid defense look like a top 10 D.....on the surface. But we all know that when you give up almost 500 yds, close to 200 yds rushing, against one of the worst offenses in the league, we shouldn't be celebrating too much.

Let me ask this for those who want to give no credit to the defense...

Why hasn't every team picked him off 5 times?

Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but he has only started 2 games. He had 4 turnovers (3 INTs) in the first game, and 5 against us. So........while it wasn't 5, it wasn't far off.

I don't remember anyone saying the D shouldn't get any credit. I KNOW what I said is Barkley helped a lot and that is true. Over throws, throwing into triple coverage etc. On the plus side we had triple coverage or in two cases Norman made a very good play .... well one was seriously underthrown.

Let's up the shades:

Chicago had:
458 yards total offense
31 first downs
140 yards rushing - 6.6 yard average for Jordan Howard
323 yards passing

I give the D credit for catching the horrible passes and or poor decisions thrown by Barkley. That's it. :noidea:
