You're right. He is not a $20M qb. He is a $22-24M/yr QB. He had an off game, by his standards. He only completed 65% of his passes for 350 yds in a game where his offense only rushed for a total of 25 yds. Numbers 70% of the QBs in the league would kill for on their off days. Yet you want to low ball him so that he walks and we end up with one of the trash heap journeyman QBs. Great plan.

He did have a bit of an off night, but he was not their main problem & his issues are certainly correctable. It certainly didn't help that they had absolutely no ground game last nt. That is an area that needs to be improved. Kelly is nice, but they need another back to either be the primary guy or substantially compliment Kelly. Their run blocking also needs some work.

Coach Spurrier sounds just like Mike Florio. That little prick was ripping Cousins & the Redskins big time this morning - all part of his act to always rip the Redskins (& never use their name in the process). Not sure how that no talent hack ever got this type of job in the first place.

NO doubt he was off. And your concern about his performance in big games is now becoming my concern. He is such a rhythm qb. When he gets into the flow, he gets real hot. That's why I think play calling is very important to KC. They really need to design a plan that starts him off with easy throws to get his flow going. While those 5 yard out patterns are not long throws in terms of yards, they are very difficult throws. Where was Reed last night (before his ejection)? And not having any sort of rushing attack killed any play action that this offense relies so heavily on.

But this is all a moot point until we can get a defense that can stop opponents from owning the time of possession and forcing our offense to constantly play catch up.

We had 3 turnovers last night. That is the game. One of the turnovers was cause by our TE getting shoved into KC as he was throwing.

Reed appeared to still be injured last nt. He probably should not have played or at the least he should have been benched mid game when it was obvious that he was in pain & not his usual self. The ejection may have actually been a blessing in disguise since it prevented him from incurring any further damage.

Yep - lose the turnover battle & combine it with a terrible rushing game & a defense that can't stop the run or the pass. You are not going to win many games with that combination.

We gave up 23 points, 7 of which came from a single yard...so really the defense gave up 16. This loss is on the offense.

I would agree with this. But it's only because they couldn't produce, again, at a historical level for this franchise. They had an off game all the way around. And while the d only gave up 16, it should have been quite a bit more it t weren't for Carolina's own ineptitude.

True but a little misleading. Several calls, mishaps, etc cost the Panthers several pts. They dominated the Redskins by much more than the score would indicate & left pts on the board. The defense could not stop the run nor the pass for most of the game. I would not try to portray this as a loss where the defense was blameless.

One thing that was clear - again - is that Redskins can't cover tight ends - period - for any team! Whatever it takes in this area they need to improve dramatically - it is outright embarrassing.

Its thinking like this that will keep Joe Barry and the Keystone defense in DC another few seasons. Stewart hadnt rushed for 100 yards in a game since week 11 of last year. Oh my GOD... they played US week 11 last year.

Cam Newton had not completed over 50% of his passes in five games leading up to this game... Last night he did.

This loss was on the team all the way around. And if this DEFENSE isnt seriously improved from top to bottom, it wont matter who you have on offense.

I don't like how this defense is run. Bend but don't break defenses are not pretty.

I am simply staying, last night was on the offense. They didn't do their job. This defense is still bad.

You are right the defense did its job last night. The offense cant score TD meaning we cant win. Carolina should of blown us out last night against our "bad" defense but they didn't. It was amazing that we were still in the game at halftime. The offense gave 10 points away plus Hopkins missed and xtra point. that is 11 points that we gave away. Everyone knows that we can not do this an expect to win games.

Not sure if giving up 450 yds of offense (which easily could have been 500+) & forcing no turnovers should be considered doing their job. They were very lucky that the Panthers didn't score a heck of a lot more pts. A combination of a missed FG, dropped passes, penalties & other factors prevented the Panthers from scoring a lot more pts. Please don't portray this as the defense doing a good job.

No but they forced FG's to make us stay in the game. You have to give them credit for that. The offense scoring just one TD just does not cut it.

We were in the game only because we got a lot of calls. The "uncatchable ball" was holding if not pass interference. The Murphy/Cam penalty could have gone the other way or been no penalty at all resulting in 3 more points. Once again replay turned 2 very close plays our way (correctly but it does not always happen).
