Sorry bud. You're wrong. Watch the next time an offside player runs through the QB after the "whistle".

Sure. "After the whistle". But there was NO whistle when Sherman went offside until AFTER he blocked the kick. That is the problem. The refs should have blown the play dead but they didn't. What was Sherman supposed to do if he doesn't hear a whistle. Carpenter didn't hear a whistle either right? Or else why did he still try to kick the ball?

You are making my point.

Did you see the FG AFTER that play? They called delay of game on us when the refs delayed it!!!! Do you not get that?

I thought you were debating the Sherman play? Now you are talking about the play after? I agree the refs screwed up the clock on the play after by not resetting the clock, but they also didn't blow it dead right away either. They clearly let the clock sit at zero for about 8 seconds before blowing the play dead.

Hence my words..... shit show at the end of the half. Three miscues in a row!

I'm not making excuses. I'm stating facts.

Refs missing holding is one thing. Knowing the rules is another.

I think we can all agree that as a whole the refs have been inconsistent at best around the league and in certain games pretty atrocious.

The easiest solution moving forward is next year to allow coaches the opportunity to challenge a flag.

But for now with the rules being what they are, you have to accept that human error happens and as a team you need to find ways to overcome it.

I agree the refs were bad at at the end of that half in particular. They seemed disorganized. If they had called Sherman for roughness it wouldn't have shocked me due to the way the league is supposedly trying to "protect" players. But since he touched the ball before contact I can see why they didn't call it.

If I was a Bill's fan I'd be more pissed about the delay of game part than the Sherman part. Its one of those things that screws with an otherwise really fun game to watch. I wasn't particularly impressed with the roughing the passer call on Wagner late in the game either. I thought that was very debatable and it was a HUGE call given where they were on the field. And Avril thought he was getting held all night. He might have had a point on two plays where he was really incensed. But what can you do? Refs are going to screw shit up occasionally. I feel like we might have beat NO last week if not for a couple pick plays that weren't called. Nothing I can do about it. On to the Pats next week.

You gotta rewatch it. Sherman hesitates... why? My guess is whistle, but it's just a guess. Have you ever seen anyone try and block a kick that way? Touch it and run through the kicker? idk. Usually you dive at the ball to block it.

But whatever. It was definitely not why we lost. Taylor's INT was brutal. And we had 1st and goal at the end.

Jordan Mills is a much bigger hinderence than the refs.

The bolded part is what I have been thinking.

I had to listen to Gruden and all of these reporters saying that it should have been a 15 yard personal foul, but the play was not blown dead, and he very obviously had his hand on the ball before contact with the kicker.

The kicker did himself no favors either by writhing on the field like he was dying and then suddenly hopping up and being fine. I think that guy has been watching too much soccer.

The refs didn't control or explain the situation well. They should have stated directly what their reasoning was. Moreso, they should have been quicker to blow the play dead. That would have possibly halted the situation. As it is, it is just a good thing that the kicker wasn't injured.

The only reason Sherman hesitates is because he probably knew he was offside by a mile. He was probably waiting to hear the whistle and when it didn't come he continued through the play and knocked the ball away from the holder. What else could he do at that point?

LMAO, everyone who isn't a Seattle Homer knows it was a cheap hit and if it had been the other way around, the Seahawk board would have been flooded from all the tears

Sherman was offsides, he touched the football, WHY did the kicker try and even kick it ? You saw the photo above, Sherman did not intentionally dive into the kickers legs... He was trying to block a kick period not trying to hurt the kicker...

Not run through the kicker's knee?

Yes though, that reason does make sense too.

Jimmy Graham and Russell Wilson beat the Bills. Wilson stood in the face of what was a GREAT Bills defensive effort, and threw ridiculous balls where only Graham could catch them.

If I were a Bills fan, would I be pissed at the end of half clock silliness? Absolutely. Shit happens.

Tip of the cap to the Bills players though. That play by Taylor to get the 1st down in the last drive WAS Russell Wilson, (that shit is frustrating when you're on the wrong end of it!) He just couldn't muster up enough at the end.

In fairness to the Bills kicker, he was committed at that point. To kick, you kinda' have to literally 'go through the motion.'

It's easier to blame the refs for the loss than who is really responsible, the Bills.

To be fair, the ball was in the same vicinity as the kickers legs. If he hits the ball successfully there is good chance there will also be contact with the kicker. That is why trying to block kicks/punts is risky. If you don't get the ball first the refs will hammer you.

Yup. RW played great. Graham's two TD catches were sick!

Anyone mention yet that Greg Hardy's been charged w/ felony coke possession? That fella seemingly can't get outta his own way.

Learn the rules. Once the ball is "dislodged" it nullifies roughing the kicker.
You are absolutely correct. If a player blocks a kick, then that player is "not" called fot roughing the kicker. That is a NFL rule.
