I'd prefer to face y'all in the ALCS where you can't shorten your rotation. Though we've always hit Price and Porcello well.

Offseason issues: Why Rangers face tough decision in what to do with Joey Gallo | SportsDay

This should be an easy decision. Gallo will only be 23 years old next spring. He's struggled in the majors, but it's still a small sample size (153 PA) and he had a .896 OPS in AAA. Yeah, the K's are an issue, but if he can hit even .230-.240, he should draw enough walks to manage a decent OBP and he could easily hit 35+ HR. Maybe a few seasons like 2009 Mark Reynolds?

If he's struggling next year, trade for a 1B. Anyone is better than Moreland at this point.

Lots of hate from Rangers fans for Moreland but he plays a damn fine defensive 1st base and w more playing time vs lefties, resulting in more AB's, I think he hits .245 w 25-30 Hr's. Joey hasn't proved he is close to doing that yet. I wouldn't give Joey away but he has a long way to go, in proving he is ready for MLB

He's probably going to have to hit more home runs than that to be an asset, given he's a 1B with a career .315 OBP (.298 last year). He batted .233/.298/.422 (87 wRC+). The average 1B hit .255/.334/.447 (108 wRC+).

I agree more HR's would go a long way in adding value, but then you have to pay for those. Not sure the Rangers are going to go sign a player that they have to pay that much for. While I agree they could use an offensive upgrade at 1B, I do like MM defensively. I look at the potential Gallo offers and I am not sure it will translate to MLB next year.

Then some have talked recently about Napoli returning to the Rangers, which I don't think is likely to happen but while I would like his career year 34 HR's this year, he also struck out 194 times. .239/.335/.465 is clearly better but at what cost? I think the expectations for Mitch have always been greater than his ability, though I'm not as down on him as most Rangers fans. .254/.315/.438 career numbers are closer to the avg 1B than his numbers this year. While I would love Encarnacion, I don't see Bob and Ray paying that contract.

Astros have been busy but nothing too exciting. So far they added McCann, Reddick, and Morton.None of this appears to have been very expensive so that's worth noting.

Reddick's deal seems fair enough. I wouldn't have minded the Dodgers keeping him at that price if there was a place for him here (there really isn't room for him on roster - plenty of lefty outfielders already).

Reddick deal seems pretty fair. Health is always a question for him, but he's been a very good OF when on the field (averaging 3.4 WAR since the beginning of 2012; 4.9 per 650 PA). He's a decent hitter with a very good glove.

Seems like the Astros gave up a bit much for McCann.

Haven't seen what they gave up? You got a link?

Check that, I see Abreu and Guzman, though I don't know a ton about them

2017 ZiPS Projections – Los Angeles Angels | FanGraphs Baseball

It's pretty crazy seeing ZiPS project anyone to post 9+ WAR. His comp is Mickey Mantle. Of course, there's not much else going on at the other positions. Calhoun and Simmons can be nice pieces, but that's about it.

Pujols' comp is Ernie Banks... not as good as it sounds. Ernie's offensive stats fell off a cliff after moving to 1B.

They've been a .500 team since June 24th. 28-28 in that stretch. While their offense has still been the best in the AL over that time, their pitching is 9th in the AL.
