Best coach in the division coaches in Philly. Wentz is good too, but it's the coaching that has us on a path for the division this year.

The coach was not the guy I saw delivering strike after strike, often while under pressure and about to be clobbered. No that kid has the look of something special and I'm really pissed about that.

Our GM decided that Matt Jones was a feature back, thus Morris was not needed.

If you rewatch the game, once Dallas realized we were not going to run the ball, they went into a 7 man zone and basically double and triple covered Reed for the rest of the game. As good as he is, With a QB who is shaky at the moment, a 7 man zone can take him away.

Perhaps they should have brought in another RB & not just a low level FA or late rd pick. However - I still don't have an issue with them getting rid of Morris. What exactly has he done for Dallas? Great - he had that one TD run & basically did nothing else in that game & not much more in the previous game. He is a decent back but had more than his fair share of problems last season (& if you want to blame the Redskins O line or coaching for that then you should afford the same luxury to Jones).

I will just say this... its two games. I made similar claims after watching a certain QB for all of 2012... and we know how that turned out. As for Wentz, I think they put the right team around him on both sides of the ball.

A QB on a solid team can actually afford to play within his game.... Or did you think Russell Wilson was some uber stud when he was drafted in the 3rd round??

And who helped build that Seahawks team? This may not work out long term for the Redskins but you have to give it a little more time.

Of course Wilson is the exception, there are always exceptions. But there have been like 100 QBs taken in the 3rd round and Wilson and Montana seem to be about it. Talk about long odds. But one thing I do know is Seattle didn't win a damn thing until they got a QB.

Here is an interesting study of all QBs drafted 1994 to 2013 (20 drafts). Taken from the link here are all the 3rd round QBs over the last 20 draft. Like I said talk about long odds.

Russell Wilson

Mike Glennon Chris Redman Andrew Walter Ryan Mallett
Matt Schaub Josh McCown
Dave Ragone Kevin O'Connell
Nick Foles
Charlie Whitehurst
Brian Griese Jonathan Quinn

Brock Huard
Trent Edwards
Chris Simms
Charlie Frye
Brodie Croyle
Stoney Case
Bobby Hoying
Eric Zeier
Colt McCoy

I'm with you. I still don't see what is wrong with 4.7 YPC and a TD. I think they are fine with Jones.

FTR I don't want anyone fired. Not Scotty Mac, not Gruden, not even Barry. And while Gruden and Barry might bulletproof after this season. I think Scotty Mac is for the next 2 years. I'm not gonna fake the funk either though and imo the last 2 drafts and FA signings haven't impressed much. That's all on SM. And can the the supposedly stud ST player/career back up stopped being signed to be a starter in DC..

And the coach has been even better. Scary for the rest of the division.

I think Alf would be a better option than anything we have presently when it comes to goal line and short yardage situations. And 13 carries/61 yards/4.69 ypc/1 TD is OK for some games. It wasn't OK for the game the Skins played last Sunday. 20 carries/85 yards/4.25/1 TD for the team's leading rusher is OK as well. After one game, for two its kinda asinine and gets leaves you with a Kirk Cousins leading the league in pass att, pass comp, red zone INTs, soul crushing INTs and only engineering 3 TDs in 10 trips to the red zone.

Yeah but it's not the back's fault they simply don't run the ball enough. When they do he's been pretty effective. Jones is certainly way down the list of issues this team has IMO.

So? Haven't y'all already scared the division before? And your boy Wentz better learn or better be taught by your super scary awesome coach to protect himself.

Are you sure it isn't Jones' fault, at least partly? His running style and possibly his fumbling issues might have something to do with why the Skins seem to be a passing team. When they get inside an opponents 10 yard line.

I wasn't calling you an idiot for stating correctly that trading up has failed more often than it has worked. It's true, it has failed more time than it has worked. But again not as often as asking a 3rd round QB to turn into a franchise QB.

If you read my post I said any NFC East fan who has watched Wentz play and is not concerned is an idiot. Apologies if I was not clear.

This is true but one of these costs a hell of a lot more than the other.

For the record Im not a fan of trying to find a franchise Qb in rounds 2-7 but it is a lot less costly and risky than trading up to take one in the first.

It will when taken out of context and used alone. But yes, it will be no balm if we don't win some games soon.

More like 'it is not the fault of Scot when scheme, coaching and execution are the primary factors involved in a loss'. Which was the context of that quote in the article of Brewer if you read the whole thing.

Additionally, I think its ridiculous to expect this roster to be where it needs to be after just 2 year of SM. And I dont see who we would hire that would be better. I think Gruden and SM should be safe for at LEAST this year.

I brought this up previously. Jones may be part of the reason they are not running more, but I truly believe that it is much more than that. Gruden is in love w/ the passing game & last year's success (w/o a running game for the most part) & that has tempted him to rely even more on the pass. The acquisition of Doctson has made it even more tempting to go in this direction. I mean cmon - why not at least give Jones a few more carries in that game? I believe that you will see more carries in the next several games.

BTW - what fumbles? You can't go by what happened last season. He may still have this issue - he may not. From what I heard in training camp he has solved this issue - time will tell.

I think youre overrating him a little. He certainly didnt look bad but he still missed throws and had a lot of simplified throws. Plus its 2 games. Josh McCown once had a great 10 game run. Not to mention another former #2 overall pick.

And you then end up with Bobby Hoying and have zero chance.

I'm not saying or even implying that the lack of a run game is all on Jones. Just that reservations held about Jones may be a part of it. Yeah, I was talking about those fumbles, but in a maybe that's partly why, maybe it isn't kinda way. Its what averaging 14.5 rushes and 44.5 Cousins passe a games leading to a 0-2 record has me doing.
