I know we all want Cleveland to beat Houston but on a positive note we moved to 3 ahead of Cleveland for home field advantage in the playoffs. Technically 4 ahead because we won the season series.

I believe it's 9:00 pm cst. At least FSSW has it listed that way. Might want to double check to avoid Crawler torture and Scottie blaming it on bad pitching. Haha

You would think that Beltre and Beltran should be able to help him. Sure couldn't hurt.

I found the article befuddling.

This is his 4th time up and now, although we expect nothing from him playing, Banister is expecting him to benefit from watching/learning from Beltre/Moreland.

It certainly can't hurt him or the team to have him up, I guess.

But just think what would have happened if the said pitchers lofted a meatball for a granny.

I saw them out of innings issuing the scoring walk but give up no more runs. Not an argument, just looking at this philosophically. :)

He hadn't pitched since September 2nd and before that Aug 29. So he has had some rest. He needs to be used when the game is out of reach right now the way he is pitching. And Kela is not much better.
A sure fire way for him to get his stuff in order is to pull him each time he issues a walk. It may be after one batter but it sends the message.

In this scenario you'd have to have someone warming up anytime you brought him into a game. Thus, burning up the pen.

Plus, most guys who have wildness problems, it's due to what's going on between his ears. Nothing like taking punitive actions to improve his mental state.

I definitely see your point. When the situation has been reversed I have been disappointed a few times when we had the bases loaded and all we got was a run scored on a walk or two and yet never got that big hit to turn a good inning into a great inning.

The expanded rosters might combat burning up the pen. It might only have to be done once or twice to send the message.

Perhaps....But I disagree with the conception, on surface value.

To me, to have someone warming up when Diekman is called into a game is self defeating.

But do you know something about Diekman I don't? Like, is he a mental midget, problem child, etc? Or is he a guy who loses focus easily?

No, no inside knowledge on my part. Just some useless brainstorming on the subject. haha.

Roggie's WAR has gone from .1 to 1.9 to 2.5 this season. This looks impressive to me, but I'm not a "connoisseur" of this stat. So is it a good one or not?

But this stat doesn't include defensive stats, base running stats, right?

So what's the best overall stat (s) which measures the true value of a player in your opinion?

Fair enough. But let me just say, I'm not much of a fan of motivation through negativity.

I did have a point. Might be wrong or off-base, but a point NTL. ha ha ha

To me there is not one stat that does that. There is a lot of theory that goes into some of the new "stats". I guess one would have to study each measurement and see if any of the theories line up with how they feel.
