I actually blame Romo for his broken collarbone..both of them. Even if it wasn't the case on those exact instances where he got injured, his tendancy to hold onto the ball WAY to long in an effort to make a play adds up to alot of uneccesary hits, adding them together with a 35, soon to be 36 year old QB, it was bound to happen, and it'll keep happening.

That being said, the Dallas run blocking line is elite, and overvalued fantasy wise

I am not sure this analogy is the right one.
I agree.
As I mentioned, I feel that the hype over both are similar. Not the same type of players. I get it.
But as a well-known rookie hater, I think the rhetoric is very similar.
And I'm sure by the end of the season, the excuses will be similar too.

Actually, you're the first to even try to compare him to Bush. It's a very loose comparison.

The backs that EE has been comped to are AP and Edgerrin James in terms of his overall skillset.
AP rookie year: 1,341 rushing yards/268 receiving yards, 14 total TD
Edgerrin James rookie year: 1,553 yards/586 yards receiving, 17 total TD

With the offense there (who has shown the propensity to feature a main bellcow back), the OL, and Zeke's elite abilities, it's fair to say he'll wind up somewhere around these two rookie seasons.

:L Again, I'm not comparing the players. Just the preseason hype.

I wish EE does well. I do. The sport needs a resurgence at the RB position.
But history has not been kind to RB. Particularly rookie RB.
The Cheat Sheet provided a list of the top 7 rookie RB seasons in NFL history.
The most recent was AP in 2007. (Nine years ago.)
In fact their #7 was Gale Sayers in 1965 which doesn't say much for the rookies since AP in 2007 either.

Not saying it can't happen this year with EE. But history says probably not.
I'm sticking with history rather than the pie-in-the-sky hype that EE breaks the mold.

Well...another way to look at it, is statistically a stud rookie RB is over due to happen. :noidea:

I am seriously considering Elliott at 1 in MBBRL. I took Gurley at 3 in a $ draft last week. Elliott would be my way of diversifying a bit.

Not because I think he is a better bet than Brown, but because if I don't take a RB in that spot I will never get another chance with these guys. I know the best values on the draft board won't be RBs at 24 and 25.

Now that would be interesting. You would be in for some lectures about the folly of counting on a unproven rookie.
I'm at the other end drafting 12th, not sure what I will do in that spot, probably draft WRs, but that depends....

No, if T does it, it's a garauntee Zeke has a season for the ages. Talk about Midas

LOL.

I am deciding between Brown, Elliott, Gurley and Johnson.

Still have no idea who I will take.

Judging from your other post, I think we can rule out Brown, unless that post was a red herring.

Can't rule it out.

I think Brown is the best and safest player. I just have to determine what strategy will allow me to build the best roster.

Well at 10, or whatever I've got down there. .I'm utterly clueless as to what may or may not be there. With this group, I know RB's go more often than normal average joes, but with all the emphasis on WR's this year. .will they stick to it, or go wide? There could be an AP, Dez, AJ, Gronk, Hopkins, Miller..hell, Zeke's adp is currently 10th, if you don't take him, who knows? ?
I don't think I can remember a league, knowing my draft spot going in, and being so clueless as to who might be there

This year and this league especially.

The group is RB crazy, but the world is WR crazy.

Anything can happen in round 1. I kind of hate picking first now. Who in the hell chose that?

You can always trade AB for a RB and WR package... :)

i.e. don't make me pass on Brown!

Being able to grab Hopkins or AJ at 10 would be quite a coup. Both of those guys could easily top 100 catchs/10 TDs this year. I was a bit unsure about Hopkins with Miller there, but then I remember some of the seasons Andre Johnson had with Foster there. Hell those guys could easily end up top 5 at their positions this year.

drew the #4 slot for my work league, which just so happens to be 12 team, full PPR.

Current order of my preference: AP, Green, Hopkins

awfully hard to pass up Green or Hopkins in full PPR, almost guaranteed Brown, Julio, Odell are the top 3 picks, but if any of those 3 slide, that would be my choice.

We start 3WRs and a Flex.
Really debating hard between AP and Green now that I think more about it.

Man.

No chance I would take AP at 4.

David Johnson should be the top RB in PPR. Taking AP that high is a mistake. Green vs. Johnson for me, unless someone lets one of the big 3 WRs fall.

I've got David Johnson above AP for a PPR too, but for me its so close, I site wouldn't fault you for going AP.

as for Green, the more I consider it, I'm not so sure he's going to be this target monster everyone is hoping for. Boyd is really looking solid, LaFell, while not exciting, is a solid vet, and Tate is looking very good as well..not to mention they have 2 stellar RB's to lean on. ..there's zero reason to feed AJ anything more than a "normal" volume

been hashing this out since I left the cards game early tonight - it was literally a sauna, I was sweating like crazy, and I don't have any extra lbs available to burn off, I'm 155 soaking wet with steel toes on.

starting to feel the David Johnson love. I know it isn't realistic, but if you combine CJ and DJ from last year, they would've bested Freeman by 30pts in standard.

69 targets, 57 to DJ since he was sort of in the mix the whole time as Ellington worked his way through another uneventful season. 250 carries and 50 catches for around 1500-1600 total yrds, flirting with double digit TDs in the high powered cardinal offense that averaged 28.33 pts per game on the road in the NFC West last year - I can dig it. The sophomore RB with limited rushing attempts last year though, has me still on the fence.

Regardless of the potential break out guys behind Green, I'd still rather take him over Dez or Hopkins.
Glad to have it locked in on these two, helps to narrow it down, but it'd make it awfully easy if one of those top 3 guys let one of those top 3 WRs slip to me.
