Teixeira retiring makes me feel very old. He should still be just a kid.

Like this lineup fine, but I think we need to give Desmond a break and soon.

It's been pointed out that he is "somewhat" streaky. And good heavens he's been on a pretty hot streak after April for us. But he's come back to earth some now, and it would be good to rest him some IMO.

Deals of the future: Who all 30 MLB teams could trade before 2017 deadline

tex.pngTexas Rangers -- Rougned Odor, 2B. A crazy idea? Sure. The 22-year-old is obviously talented, with a team-leading 21 home runs. But as evidenced Wednesday, when he got thrown out at second base trying to advance on a ball in the dirt as the tying run in the ninth inning, he has yet master the finer points in the game. He's second in the majors in outs made on the bases, has a poor stolen base percentage in his career, leads the majors in errors at second base and has an 88-10 strikeout/walk ratio. Texas could trade him to get pitching help or restock the farm and play Jurickson Profar at second next season.

I have been thinking along those lines myself since Profar got healthy again.

Unless Odor starts to take his craft seriously and work seriously on his flaws then it might be time for him to go

It will be interesting the response to Beltran who now joins Roogie and Cole on their enemy hit list. They may not like it a bit due to the failed reunion

It seems to amuse him the boos. I like that. I am anticipating a lot of snark this series

I can understand the thought process on this but we had better think long and hard. I think he can improve on defense and a 25 HR 2nd baseman is hard to find. We have a habit of wanting to easily kick our own to the curb. Now if we got something of great value then it is worth listening to. But it would need to be really good.

Well of course, no one is advocating kicking him to the curb for nothing

But in this instance we already have a player ready to take his place, and pretty proven at the ML level.

Literally the only advantage Odor has on Profar is power and I don't think it's that big of a difference, given regular playing time I think Profar has 15+ HR power as is

Not to mention play MUCH better defense, draw way more walks and be at least an equally good hitter

This is not the same as having a guy a year away with little ML experience

I wouldn't have been at all surprised to see him included in a deal for a SP at this years deadline
