The Royals offense isn't very good. The offenses that have " lit us up" recently have scored much more runs then the royals. Another thing that makes this a favorable matchup is that the Royals hardly ever take walks. Walks have been a huge problem for this team since the downturn began. The Angels are heading to Houston with a 6 game winning streak. I think this series is a good opportunity to stop the bleeding and gain some ground back from the Astros.

Was he on the DL at the beginning of the season? He only has 50 IP. Was wondering if he was on the DL earlier in the season if it was due to his 184 inning workload last year which is the most he has pitched in the majors or minors from what I can tell.

Had one of those lat issues earlier in the season. Came back strong. He's young.

They were dead last in the AL last year in walks and still managed to win the WS. Their philosophy was to not wait on walks but to jump on pitchers early in the count. It worked for them last year. You have to have the right hitters though. They were dead last in 2104 as well.

The Rangers pitching did better against the Cubs on the road than they did the Twins at home. I don't think you can point to a trend at this point. They're gonna do how they do.

There is a theory that says young pitchers who significantly ramp up their innings from one year to the next will develop arm problems the following year. I forget where I read that, but I believe the study came out 5 or 6 years ago.

Rangers making serious effort for White Sox LHP Chris Sale but no indication if deal will get done....predictably Sox want Gallo, Profar

Gallo and ???? but not Profar.

Yes I'm sure that is the discussion. No way we need to give up both with our deep position players in our farm system.

I would love Sale but I am with you in not giving up both which I have stated before.

If I knew for a fact Sale could pitch 4/5 more years without serious injury I'd give em both up. But his body structure and arm action really concerns me from a longevity standpoint.

Plus, he'll he a FA in 2018. So whatever we're giving up, it may be for a 1 1/2 year career with us. That puts a real damper on it for me as well.

We love Hamels here but people still bemoan what we gave up to get him here, Sale would cost even more

One more year of control would make a big difference imp.

Holy jeez... trading for Sale? The epitome of "fuck it, we're going for it NOW."

Yep.....I concur.

Looks like, if this story has legs, JD has decided we've got to get a title this season or next, or both, and it's balls to the wall.

Could Beltre have something to do with it?

There is a team option in 2018 for 12.5 mill and in 2019 for 13.5 mill. So if he holds his end of the bargain as he has been doing we have him until 2020.
