Missed Cole pitching did anyone notice this?

Ken Rosenthal

Cole Hamels needed eight stitches in his chin after he tripped coming out of bathroom in his hotel room at 5 am. "Now I can sleep," he said 8:26 PM - 12 Jul 2016

Cole Hamels gets off to a painful start on the morning of the All-Star Game
Hamels fell in his hotel room at 5 a.m. and needed eight stitches

SAN DIEGO -- We have a winner! The competition: Who would suffer the weirdest/dumbest/funniest injury of All-Star week?

Cole Hamels of the Rangers, c'mon down ...

Now, now. Keep your comments to yourself, they aren't welcome here. There's a 100 percent chance this is all totally true and there's nothing else to it, OK? For real!

Hamels did pitch in the Midsummer Classic, too. He worked the third inning for the AL. He allowed two baserunners, but then struck out Kris Bryant -- who had homered earlier in the game -- to leave two on.

I hope that show tanks after three episodes. Pure stupidity of the highest order.
I saw something about women baseball players in Independent leagues recently. But the piece failed to mention how they were performing.

I could see the limp wrists at MLB promoting a coed league featuring at first a female knuckle ball pitcher.

BTW if I thought a woman pitcher could give us 5 innings of 2 run ball the last two weeks where we stunk, I'd say give it a try. :-)

Because some of our pitchers in those Twinkies games could not strike out Sister Mary Midgets nun pick up team.

I'm crossing my fingers that the twinkies were just really hot, but we might have a " Twinkie" hang over. I sure hope not.

I mean, it's pretty obvious that you're never going to see a woman in MLB. It's not something to get too worked up over.

I'm not convinced some idiot limp dick, limp wristed idiots won't find a way to try to make that shit happen. Like someone else said, it will probably be a knuckleballer or something, but I can definitely see some dumb fucks pushing that agenda and I'll the idiot sheeple will fall all over themselves in support in the name of "feminism" and "equality".

Rangers' Luis Ortiz: Holding his own at Double-A
by RotoWire Staff

Ortiz, 20, has a 3.74 ERA and 28:7 K:BB through 33.2 innings since being promoted to Double-A.

Ortiz has shown superb control, though he has been slightly more hittable at this level than he was at High-A. Opposing batters are hitting .288 against him at Double-A compared to .221 through 27.2 innings at High-A to begin the season. Nevertheless, he will not turn 21 years of age until after the season, so his future remains bright.

A prime example of the "too worked up" I referred to.

Baseball doesn't work that way, dude. Might... MIGHT we see the day when a woman joins the roster of an affiliated minor league club? Maybe. At the Rookie Ball level. At best. But there's just no way a woman is going to outperform male counterparts at A, AA, and AAA level baseball. So never mind the major leagues.

I wonder if he will still be Rangers property after the trade deadline.

I have done a lot of thinking about what we might do via trade in the next 18 days or so. One way to look at this team is to say we were the best team in baseball without our best pitcher and one of our best relievers for most of the time before the break. Looking at it that way you can come to the conclusion that just by getting Darvish and Kela back you will upgrade your team in a major way.

Then there is the fact that we have lost Holland for a few more weeks and Colby for a few more weeks. There were many who were not happy with what Derek had done anyway so acquiring a 5th starter should be enough for the ones in that camp to replace Holland with. Maybe someone who can give us what Wandy did early last year would suffice. Since Yu should give us more than Colby did will that be enough?

I have read in some places that the Rangers have to acquire a major piece for the pen and two starters. I don't agree with that. It seems to me if we can get what I call a JD special for the pen, or someone who can be very serviceable in the pen yet not cost too much, that that will be enough for the pen. Then we need starting pitching depth that can fill in as a 5th starter until Derek gets back. Then when Colby gets back the least effective starter leaves the rotation.

The key is to get ready for the postseason and a postseason starting staff of Yu, Cole, Martin, and Colby is a very good foursome. A bullpen of Dyson, Kela, Diekman, Bush, JD Special, Barnette and Tolleson is one I can live with.

As far as Lucroy goes I really don't see that we need him for what he is going to cost.

That still leaves us with Gallo, Profar, Brinson and Ortiz in the fold and allows us to be one of the very best teams in baseball for the rest of the year and especially in the postseason.

That is if Yu, AJ, Lewis and Holland all stay healthy and if Holland can be effective if he does pitch. I personally think we still need a SP and RP. We have plenty of pieces in the minors that have no place to go to use as trade chips.

I think we need those two as well. I just think we need a 5th starter and a relatively low cost relief pitcher.

I honestly don't feel comfortable with Martin in the October rotation. Maybe he flips a switch at some point this year and discovers his greatness, but right now, I'd probably slot Griffin ahead of him.
