4 runs. 7 of their 11 were earned. And that's my point about Perez. Had he buckled down and forgotten about those errors and instead focused on stopping the bleeding, this would be a ballgame.Take away 5 runs on the 3 btback errors and we have a game. 10 hits each through 8.
A little rest is bound to help if we ever get to that pointJD has his work cut out for him. Even the healthy starters we have are suspect.
I think Hamels is still an excellent #2, especially if we can ever get Darvish healthy. And I also think AJ Griffin is a terrific #5... someone who can get you 5 or 6 innings with not many runs against.JD has his work cut out for him. Even the healthy starters we have are suspect.
Position players yes. Not so sure about our pitchers such as Perez or Holland once he's back. The season gets into high gear after the break.A little rest is bound to help if we ever get to that point
I'm hoping JD picks up a #3 and finish w/ Colby and AJ. Of course this behind Yu and ColePosition players yes. Not so sure about our pitchers such as Perez or Holland once he's back. The season gets into high gear after the break.
100% agree.I'm hoping JD picks up a #3 and finish w/ Colby and AJ. Of course this behind Yu and Cole
This is 100% on Martin Perez. Errors and bad calls happen. You can't just implode because of a few mistakes by your teammates and/or the umps. He has the mental makeup of a first grader. Even with a perfect defense behind him, he still would have allowed 7 earned runs in 4 innings.
I've about had it with him as a Ranger. How long are we supposed to wait on him to grow up, especially considering that he's not even ace material? He'll throw 1 or 2 decent games and the just absolutely implode in the next one. He's a lot like Holland in that they're both entirely unreliable. I wouldn't hesitate to include him in a trade if a team asked for him (and we were getting pitching in return).
Glad to be mostly done with the AL East now. Just have the Yanks, Rays twice, and the O's one more time for the second half.
Don't think we see Santana either. He pitched today. At least we are at home and against the Twinkies. Maybe we can figure out a way to scratch 3 out of 4.
I am not worried about Perez. His 3.85 ERA is fine with me. He had a bad game. Even the best of pitchers do at times. Overall I am satisfied with how he has pitched this year. Not bad at all for someone with 65 career starts.
Problem is we have Chi Chi and Martinez as 2 of our 4 starters in this series. And the 2 times Nick has left with a lead the BP has imploded.Don't think we see Santana either. He pitched today.
