STARTING PITCHERS
Detroit Tigers
RHP Mike Pelfrey (0-4, 5.55 ERA)

Oakland Athletics
LHP Rich Hill (7-3, 2.18 ERA)
Pelfrey still is searching for his first individual win as a Tiger, although Detroit is 3-6 in the games he has started this season.

* Hill, a University of Michigan product, is having a fine season. The veteran lefty, featuring a sweeping curve, ranks first in the American League with a 2.16 ERA. He's tied for second in the AL with seven wins.

* This is the second time Pelfrey and Hill have started against each other this season. In the first matchup, Oakland beat Detroit 5-1 on April 26 at Comerica Park.

Why bother having replay if they are going to keep the bad calls. In baseball tie goes to the runner so if it is close he is safe. How hard is that?

If Pelfrey explodes today does he deserve another start?

Will this be a good day a bad day or going half-mad day for the Tigers?

It looks as though Jordan Zimmermann won't be making that hoped-for Tuesday start on the West Coast.
But he could be in the cards for later on in the week.
Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said Sunday the right-handed pitcher is eyeing a return to the rotation Friday, against the Chicago White Sox at Comerica Park.
Zimmermann (groin strain) said he felt good after a 25-pitch bullpen session at O.co Coliseum and, barring any setbacks, Tigers coaches will have him undergo agility drills Monday in Anaheim.
Should everything go as anticipated, he'll throw another bullpen Tuesday at Angel Stadium and begin prepping for his first start since May 22.

GREENE UPDATE: With a decision looming on what to do with Shane Greene, the right-handed pitcher is scheduled to make a second rehab start with Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday in Louisville.

Greene threw a bullpen with the Tigers Sunday in Oakland and was due to join the Mud Hens on Monday. This start, his third minor-league stint since being placed on the disabled list with a blister on his throwing hand, is scheduled to go approximately 75 pitches, Ausmus said.

Might be no room for Greene, after Zimmermann returns.

Zimmermann, Verlander, Fulmer, Sanchez, Pelfrey. I know...Pelfrey should go, but he has been pitching better. He has been better than Sanchez actually. Do the Tigers have the guts to bench Sanchez and/or Pelfrey and move to Greene and Boyd? Past history tells me , No. (Upton remains in LF, does he not? :)

Do we see Steven Moya again. Really mystified by how the club used him...and then sent him back to Toledo. Yet looking past his .281 BA, he did not show much. Lots of Ks, poor fielding, no HR. A fantasy site suggest to drop him as his chances of returning were "dim".

OK....do you see that dead horse? You see my stick? Watch.....

Justin Upton has 70 strikeouts. The Tigers have not played 1/3 of their games yet. Do the math. (While you are at it....J-Up has 2 homers and 10 RBI). If you stink at math....Upton is on course for 231 Ks this year. Yes, that would be a record. BTW....does everyone remember that "opt out" clause in Upton's contract....that we were SURE he'd use?????

That poor horse. I don't disagree with you but two things I think the tiger say about Moya is he doesn't play center field and he bats left handed. Pretty piss-poor excuses but never in my life have I been supportive of any management.

The same issue here with the pitching as with Upton. It's time to shit or get off the pot and do what will give you the best chance to win.

i could see Sanchez and or Pelfry getting skipped. That's about all I can hope for.

Is Zimmerman expected to make his next start?

Bringing up Norris for one game while we had no leftie hitters on the bench Is one of the dumbest little moves a GM could make.

I'm not letting that one slide for Avila.

Dude sucks. Looking forward to him getting canned.
