The difference between making the playoffs or missing out could be hanging in the next three weeks as we try to get by on a ragtag bullpen while waiting the return of Benoit and Furbush, and Zych who is further out. If they are content to wait it out and get by on fill-ins like Steve Johnson and Guiapi, we could lose the season right here in May and early June.
The Rainiers and Generals are getting solid relief from several pitchers. it's time to start rotating these guys in and testing them.
Rainiers roster:
Jonathona Aro, 25, 10 games, 18 IPs, 2.00 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, 7 BB, 8 K.
Casey Coleman, 28, 11 games, 18.1 IPs, 1.47 ERA, 0.76 WHIP, 3 BB, 13 K.
Justin DeFratus, 28, 11 games, 18 IPs, 2.50 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, 4 BB, 6 K.
Balke Parker, 31, 12 games, 12.1 IPs, 2.19 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, 3 BB, 12 K.
David Rollins, 26, 13 games, 16.2 IPs, 1.62 ERA, 0.66 WHIP, 0 BB, 12 K.
Kraig Sitton 27, 10 games, 13.2 IPs, 0.00 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, 3 BB, 10 K.
Generals roster:
Emilio Pagan, 25, 10 games, 17 IPs, 0.53 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, 6 BB, 24 K.
Ryan Harper, 27, 10 games, 15 IPs, 1.80 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 7 BB, 20 K.
That's 8 guys right there that deserve consideration, at a minimum. Emilio Pagan is a power pitcher who has been solid at every step in the minors and I think he could make the jump from AA. I mean, seriously, what do we have to lose (besides a playoff berth)? Blake Parker is a guy who has been mentioned her in other threads. He has MLB experience with the Cubs. Casey Coleman is a guy who spend the early part of his career in the minors as a starter. The Royals got him two years ago and converted him to relief where he turned in two solid years in Omaha. But he could crack the big league club because the Royals pen has been so solid. But he's also ready for the majors.
