I would say S and C were bigger glaring needs than DL. Cravens is our Kam Chancellor and should put to rest the garbage of overpaying Chancellor and giving up a pick for him.

And I would say you are full of it. Our Passing defense and offense as a whole were much better than our rushing defense. And the numbers dont lie. We havent lost anything from our offense, and to a degree add to it with getting a healthy Stiger and Lavauo back. I will say Safety was a need. But lets not pretend the D-line wasnt our biggest issue.

Dude.. IM not scared of Zeke. But I do think he is going to shred our weak D-line like cheese through a wood chipper. I think Dallas will have the same issue as us with a weak D-line... at least early on until they get Gregory and Lawrence back. From a talent standpoint on the D-line, Dallas is currently better than us. Week two will likely be a shoot out where the team that can actually stop the run wins.

I simply dont think that will be us.

We actually have respectable defensive linemen. Chris Baker is good and the others are rotational guys.

Our safeties are poor.

Also a running back on a rebuilt knee should not inspire fear in any one.

I wont disagree with you on safety. BUt Baker is decent, the rest are backups who will start because we got nothing else.

I thought that this thread was about grading this draft? Anyway, I gave a grade of C+ and here's why.

Going in my top 5 priorities were Safety, WR, QB, LB and DL.
Coming out of this draft we seem to have more questions than answers.

Free Safety.......Looks like the experiment will continue at this spot with Hall and Blackmon likely vying for the nod.

WR.......Frankly I'm thrilled with this pick and believe that the team has significantly upgraded there. I'm looking forward to how they plan to deal with the two guys facing free agency in 2017.

QB.......Now that the other guy is working in Cleveland, maybe others will take me seriously as I write that, we need real help at the position. Only real homers believe that KC is the answer. I don't! ! Sure he might have another gear and he's gonna need it, especially knowing that there's a full season of tape on him and the opposition most certainly will make every attempt to take away what he's shown to do best. Strangely, what he does best might be all that JG and company will ask of him, knowing his limitations, but with stiffer competition this year, who can honestly say that Cousins, will have, as he must, another record setting season?
What was needed was a pick with near starter like skills, we didn't come close with this year's pick.

LB........More questions, is he a Linebacker or a safety? Whatever the case he will either man an outside LB spot or move to safety. We need an inside guy, and although I like the pick, we still need an inside guy.

DL........A decent pick, but remember, the questions going in was figuring out a way to drop that rushing defense from its current 122 yards per game. Raise your hands if you honestly believe that the question has been sufficiently addressed. Again a very nice pick where he was drafted, just not enough.

Health questions will mark which grade Im willing to give the other pick. Good draft for athletes, but outside of Doctson, still too many questions with the slots that they will compete for.C+

Is it the DLs fault when the runs are outside?

COme on dude.. are you seriously saying we gave up almost five yards a clip.. TIED for worst in the league, all based on tosses and sweeps... and the D-line was mostly not at fault?? So the fact that we had a middle of the pack pass rush.. was not the D-lines fault. The fact that we were tied for worst in the league in yards per carry given up.. was not the D-lines fault.

And the fact that we have gotten worse on the D-line ( I know hard to believe) Should have no bearing on how we think the team will do??

our d/line has issues . what we need to hope is murphy adds some spunk to it . that a younger reyes gets us what hatcher did . that powe can get us 10-15 snaps as a NT with our draft pick kicking in some snaps

we really just ran in place with our d/line

no way around that people but perhaps we can schem some pass rush by having murphy smith and baker on the d/line gallette coming from the edge and cravens getting an occasional blitz

but yes our d/line is a sore spot

pro football focus

Washington Redskins, B+
1 (22) (from Houston) Josh Doctson, WR, TCU
2 (53) Su’a Cravens, S, USC
3 (84) Kendall Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech
5 (152) (from New Orleans) Matt Ioannidis, DT, Temple
6 (187) (from New Orleans) Nate Sudfeld, QB, Indiana
7 (232) (from Tampa Bay) Steven Daniels, ILB, Boston College
7 (242) Keith Marshall, RB, Georgia

Day 1: Washington gets the No. 2 receiver on the PFF draft board in Doctson, who posted the top receiving grade in the nation last year at +28.9 despite playing only 582 snaps. He adds another dimension to a well-rounded group of pass-catchers in Washington, as he uses his outstanding body control to make plays down the field. He may end up as the most productive deep receiver in the class.

Day 2: Whether playing safety or linebacker, Cravens simply knows how to defeat blocks and make plays in both the run game (+10.8 grade, seventh-best in the class) and in coverage (+8.3, eighth in class). Fuller has some boom-or-bust to him, as he was solid in 2014 but struggled to a negative coverage grade before going down to injury early in 2015.

Day 3: Ioannidis notched 33 pressures last season, good for 11th in the class. He adds an interior pass-rusher to the mix. Daniels posted the top grade against the run among the nation’s linebackers and he reads plays and blows them up as well as any linebacker in the class.

PS: Although I did say that health will determine the marks that I gave for Fuller and Marshall, I didn't mention Daniels at ILB, who just might compete for time, but has glaring weaknesses against the pass. We've seen this before haven't we? If he able to work hard on his deficiencies, we may have something. Again more questions.

I dont think any one doubted Reeds talent. It was all about his ability to stay healthy. Paea and Reyes have been average at best their entire careers. Sure they could improve. And I guess thats what we are banking on. But if they have hit their ceiling.... its going to be another long frustrating season.
