Big 3rd inning for the Tigers. Up 4-1. Let's see if Anibal can hold it.

Nope. Sanchez gives up a bomb to the first batter in the 4th. Ugh.

And Upton contributes a rare RBI single. 7-2.

94 pitches and 7 ER in 3.2 innings for Bassitt. Not good.

A better outing for Sanchez but crazy outing 3 hits and 7 walks and 2 runs in 5.2 innings.... I would say an improvement butt there is still lots of work to be done.

Sanchez falls one out short of a QS, mainly because he couldn't avoid the walks and needed 114 pitches. 7 free passes in 5.2 IP today, but he struck out 9 and only gave up 2 ER. Very fortunate, given all the traffic on the bases.

Back-to-back innings the Tigers had a runner on 3rd and fewer than 2 outs, and couldn't score him. Hope that doesn't come back to bite us in the ass.

Tigers win 7-3 and take the series. It's been a while.

Sanchez is 3-2, despite a 6.08 ERA and 1.76 WHIP. K-Rod gets the cheapo save (tying run on deck), and he actually hit 90 MPH with a fastball.

Sorry, did not see game...from box scores

Iffy's Three Stars of the Game:*

1. Tiger Offense (deserve one for so many 'Bums" recently)
2. A. Gose (2 hits, one a homer...might be his weeks worth)
3. Castellanos (two doubles...still over .300)

*Brought to you by dougplayer......'nuff said.

I was gone for most of the day. Happy to hear that the Bengals won 7-3. Gose had 2 hits  that should raise his BA to 139 or something like that

OK kids. Get your pennies together because you will probably want to invest in the Iffy Toy Company, after you hear my ideas.
I notice that the Tigers have many give-away games where items are given out with a purchase of a ticket...but some of them are old hat and some are just lame..."Anibal Sanchez School Supply Night"???? What I have to suggest is a series of unique bobbleheads, toys, and dioramas that can be sold or given away at the park. These items not only will be fun to have and collect, they will also facilitate learning for young and old. I can easily see these awesome ideas being expanded upon and used in ballparks all over America. This is your chance to get in on the ground floor. Don't miss out! Stay tuned!

Alright....here is a teaser. You'll have to use a little imagination on this bobblehead.

OK. Picture former Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick (in prison uni) with Detroit Tiger cap on his oversized bobbing head. He's standing behind some jail cell bars with a poor photo of Ron LeFlore behind him.

Eagles win behind Rogers' two-hit shutout - TN Sports 360

Here ya go smitty, a little article about my nephews last start......Mitch Rogers is his name.....There were some scouts from eastern KY, APSU and a few others at this game.
Took a perfecto into the sixth!?! That's awesome Muzz! Is he your sisters son?

My best pitcher took a no-no into the 5th yesterday. With about five walks and we were trailing. Lol

Crazy how many more games you guys get in early down there. We've played 10.

7 walks for anibal is ridiculous. Tigers starting pitching is not good besides zimm and he's not a number one starter. This isn't a playoff team.

At this point, no, they aren't looking like a playoff team. Call it Dougie-level optimism, but I'm still feeling good about Verlander having a decent year. He's had 4 QS in 5 starts, and only one truly horrible outing (7 ER, 10 hits in 4.1 IP). Throw that out, and his ERA is 3.91 and his WHIP is 1.14. He hasn't walked more than 2 batters in any start, and he's struck out more than a batter an inning so far (31 in 29.2 IP), which we haven't seen in some time. There's reason to be encouraged, but we will see.

That said, they need more than even Verlander and Zimmermann in the rotation to make an impact in the ALC race.

It's a dream come true for Michael Fulmer, who makes his major league debut tonight for the Tigers. He's 1-1 with a 4.11 ERA at Triple-A Toledo so far this season. He's got 20 strikeouts in 15.1 innings.

--Fulmer came to the Tigers organization in the trade that sent Yoenis Cespedes to the Mets at last year's trade deadline. He's rated among the Tigers' very best prospects.

--Hughes has pitched better than his record indicates. He's pitched at least six innings in all three of his starts this season. He's given up no more than three earned runs in any of those appearances.
