Kid is the consensus top ILB in this years draft. And until recently considered a lock top ten and possible top five pick. Concerns have risen about his repaired knee however that have him falling out of the top ten. So the question becomes, is it worth the 21st pick on a guy who you really cant guarantee will last into his second contract if you are pretty sure he will be an elite player at the position within that rookie contract??

Oh I totally get that. And if we were picking at 5 I would probably say heck no. But at 21, if he is there... he has to be a consideration I would think.

Like you said he should be fine on his rookie contract and he's top 5 linebacker in the nfl good. I'll take just 5 years of that on a cheap contract.

Really just depends on the medical. If you think he can come back unscathed, then jump all over it.

True, I just think he'll go in the top 10.

Unless its an O-line or D-line... its getting kinda hard these days to find a first rounder who hasnt had some kind of knee issue though.

At 6'1" 245 pounds, he could beef up a little more and play ILB, but he belongs on the outside imo, ideally in a 4-3, but he'll be a stud in a 34 as well. And he has the goods w/o question. If he fell to 21, I highly doubt he does, I hope the Skins are all over him.

It would be interesting though and put that "always draft BPA" bullshit to the4 test. As the Skins while not great at OLB, should be noticeably better than OK if everyone stays healthy. I think Jack could reach another level though. Maybe not LT or Derrick Thomas level but in part that'd be due to Jack's pass coverage abilities. Now if all a team does with Jack is rush the QB on passing downs, well, who knows.

Far as his knee being a bomb waiting to off. That could be said about any player. I think someone is playing head games/

Bell: Is UCLA's Myles Jack getting whacked by NFL draft's lying season?

No way he makes it to us. But if so.. Then hell yes. If he can stay healthy he will be a star.

a good draft is approached like this IMO . you gather your list of needs , you make up your priorities.

when your turn comes up you look at the need and if there is value at the spot take the need . , if not you go to the next need

if you cant get value for your needs at the spot you have 2 options , trade down or simply pick the BPA if a trade is unavailable

Perhaps, but far too many times I have heard draft BPA regardless and that's neither wise or practical.

I would pull the trigger quick, fast and in a hurry on Jack though if he fell to the Skins. I think he could be special.

a combination of philosophies is what you need flexability . my only concern about jack is he may only have a 6-7 year career . however sometimes you just have to say "what the F " as quoted in risky business

his talent is unquestioned

6-7 years takes guys to 30, many don't get much further than that.

Gotta take him if he slides that far - unless the medical folks say no. Play him at inside LBer, not MLB.
