My main question for the season is why didn't Jesus' group tell Rick how big the Saviors group is? I mean they got muscled by them, you would figure they would know.

I would be pissed if this was how they did it. As far as the show is concerned, Dwight is not a major character, and is even more of a cop out than Aaron would be.

Taking the comics into account...

Daryl could still become Dwight in everything except the traitor stuff. But without that, what is the point of Dwight?

Yeah, it would be a huge cop out after all the buildup. Someone major has to be it.

For a secondary kill, if Aaron sticks out his jaw and says something like "I'm doing this and you can't stop me!" one more time, I say kill the annoying bastard.

'cuz Gregory didn't want them to get scared off.

Don't you think ending on a cliffhanger only to kill off a "fringe" member of the group 6 months later is just a bit anticlimactic...and severely underwhelming???
That is kinda the point. This entire season, they have only killed Deana, Denise and Jessie's family. The last "major" character was Noah, and Tyreese about 4 episodes before that.

This show no longer puts you on the edge of your seat worrying about the fate of your favorite character.

As @calsnowskier mentioned at some point, this is kind of the apex of the comics.

IMHumbleO, it HAS to be an A character.

As well it should be, but look at AMC's recent track record....
They have literally steered clear of killing anyone of any significance.
And why end it in a cliff hanger.... If they kill an A lister last night, would you not tune in 6 month's from now just to see how everything changes, and how the group reacts to it???

They have lost the fear factor.....
Now you are just left with concern for certain characters.

Yep...I forgot to add the "again" caveat to the fringe/secondary member comment of my post.

Exactly. This is the crux of the discussion BD and I had this past week.

Doing it the way they did it is the lazy, short-sighted way of doing it. It is also the completely expected way it was going to be done because studio execs will always grab the easy dollar over investing for the bigger dollar down the road.

@calsnowskier - This turned out to be wrong, but I couldn't help thinking this during the "Carol getting shot to pieces" segment:
The way she was begging to die, I thought it was a strong possibility that she would fulfill her comic book fate and accept the embrace of a walker. I'm glad they didn't kill her off, but it would have made perfect sense if they had decided to do so.

I was thinking this as well. They have been getting sooo close to actual comics this season, that I was fully resigned to it, actually.

It doesn't bother me. It's the end of a story. How they react hereafter is the start of the next arc.

I don't know why, but I'm not all up in arms about it, like seemingly EVERYONE else?:noidea:

This "B" season may have been the best season of the whole series IMO.

Yeah...not up in arms about, just think it could've been done better. I think I'm more pissed about watching Gimple on Talking Dead afterwards.

I totally get what you are saying. And the funny thing is, we both have basically completely flip-flopped from our stance in the discussion we had last week.

I guess I am pissed because they actually broke up the major scene of the series and cut the tension in half. This scene was too important, IMHO, to "break".

But AMC is not here to honor the viewer with good story telling. They are here to sell ad space. Telling a good story is just one avenue to get to their end-game. Bait-n-switching is another avenue.

If I was Negan in that situation I would kill the following:

*Abraham: Obviously an alpha male.
*Rick: Obviously the leader. Why wouldn't you take out the leader?
*Probably Darryl: If I had any knowledge of his actions against the group previously.
*Maybe Michonne: If I has any reports of her sword skills in action.

I wouldn't perceive the others as much of a threat and might let them go if they were going to basically be my slaves. Let them scamper back to Alexandria with their tails between their legs and go from there.

I don't know why he would let any of those 4 walk free under any circumstances.
Abraham, sure. Take out a strong member of their team to send their message, but even then...
Rick? No way. Their goal is to make them their bitch and work for them. Their group still needs a leader to keep things going productively. Again, if they can't protect themselves from walkers and find ways of advancing Negan and his crew don't get much of their 50% of everything do they? It would make the least sense of all to take Rick out then. Leave him alive and send him back with his tail between his legs with soiled undies to do his bidding. That's the deal here.
Daryl. No reason not to from his perspective. Nor Michonne from your list. He doesn't know Rick's involvement with her anyway or she'd probably be fairly high up that list.
Carl? Said he wasn't going to do him and again he needs their group to be functional and grow to keep them in their loot.
He wouldn't take out the already in bad shape preggo. It sends a message, but strong enough?
Glen, Daryl, Rosita, Michonne likely doesn't stop their group from being productive after their introduction to their new reality.

I agree that the cliff hanger wasn't necessary. This wasn't exactly a 'red wedding' sort of moment, but it was a key moment in the series and even just wondering what the aftermath will be is more than enough of a wait for next season as it is. Seeing the bloody body after the last blow is a hell of an image to leave you with over the many months of waiting. You also had the introduction of the Kingdom as a cliffhanger so there really was no need to leave it a mystery, and yet that's exactly what I expected.

Those saying Aaron... Maybe they don't care, but I can see them wanting to steer clear of bumping off another gay character...

I mean, Tara can't keep her girlfriends alive, and this would be a third gay death on the show... Just sayin...

...Unless you count Tyrese, which would make it the fourth gay death... ;)
