I think it will be Glenn. He showed the most life of everyone, and his death would have the added hit of killing Maggies husband (which was made very clear when Negan threatened Maggie).

Abraham - He has been my prime suspect for many reasons that I will not re-state here. I think he was fed up as the red herring in the episode, though. He is happy and in a good place. His character does not have much more room for growth. He is "fixed". All tell-tale signs that a character is dead. Red-Herring.

Eugene - While he is important, I dont think he character is embraced enough by the audience yet. He also still have a LOT of important plot points going forward.

Michone - It will not be a female. No way they will kill a female in that brutal a fashion.

Sasha - See Michone.

Maggie - See Michone.

Daryll - Too popular a character. I also think they have built up his rivalry with Dwight too much. There are specific scenes I am very interested in seeing next season with Daryll thrown into the mix.

Rick - No way. Negan needs Alexandria to have a solid leader in place, who has been castrated, of course. And there is a very specific scene next season that requires Rick, specifically...

Spencer's death

Carl - No way

His whole relationship with Negan

Aaron - I HOPE not. However, he has vaulted up to my #2 option. A complete cop out if he is the one.

Glenn - See my reasons above.

Those shiny, red, candy-like buttons in this post are fuckin' hard to resist.

I think you're right. It has to be Glenn. I don't know that it will be, but it really should.

I don't know. I think his demeanor went from angry/confident to broken pretty evenly through the episode. From the first time the RV was stopped, the roadblocks grew increasingly impressive/frightening, and as they did, Rick realized with each stop how much more fucked they were than he thought. That whole "everything's good, we'll get you there" speech he gave to Maggie seemed horribly acted, and I think that was on purpose. He knew they were fucked.

By the last stop, I think it was pretty clear to him that the survivors, with their numbers and resources, could likely steamroll an attack-ready Alexandria, let alone the small group he was with.

I guess my problem with it is the exact same problem that you had with Rick. He wasn't acting like a leader at all, sniveling with snot running down his nose. Abraham was acting more like a fearless leader than Rick, he was willing to sacrifice himself for the rest of the group. Plus, Rick was a cop before all this happened. You'd think he'd be used to the prospect of death after being a cop and then a leader of survivors in the zombie apocalypse.

By the way, would treating Rick's group like any other be punishment enough? I mean, they kill someone every time they "recruit" another group, Negan even said that they killed far more people than he's okay with. This is a group that cut people's fingers off for using a vehicle without permission and burn faces for stealing. I'm thinking that Negan kills 2 people instead of 1 as punishment. I think Glen is likely since they've gone away from the comics in terms of deaths, sticking to the script this time would in it's own way be unexpected. So I'm thinking Maggie watching Glen get his skull bashed in and then Maggie for punishment.

Getting rid of the lovebirds would be a good way to get his point across.

lol, the top search on google right now is
How does Negan die.

If I had to guess I'd say Carl eventually turns into a badass that would make Carol seem weak and kills him.

If you are running the strongest army out there, do you keep the leaders and threats of the second strongest army alive after you publically kill one of their closest friends in the manner Negan just killed somebody? Or do you beat them down and slowly take the fight out of them?

I think you always want to attract new talent. It's probably been done by Negan before and probably worked well, especially if you feel comfortable in your power like Negan does.

He was never talking in terms of fear with Ricks group but more as a means to continue control of group by demonstrating his power with Ricks group. Both for Ricks group and his group.

BTW, is it possible the writers of the show won't follow comic religiously.

I see your point.

Regarding the Rick/Abraham comparison, in Rick's defense, it might be worth considering that it was Rick's hubris and decision to go after the Saviors that led them there. That guilt, along with the possibility of watching his son get bashed, are much heavier things than I suspect Abraham's was carrying. Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown, and all that.

Did anyone else think when Negan said he couldn't choose and said, "Wait, I know how I'll decide" or whatever, that he was going to make Rick choose?
