Well we know from history whoever Jerry picks he's the guy he wanted all along. He could draft Donald Duck, and he'd say he was the highest player on their board.

This is true, except in the case of Zack Martin. Even after Martin had an All-Pro rookie season and Manziel did nothing, Jerry was still talking about wanting to draft Johnny Football.

They may all be there, guys fall every year.. .but it always seems as though when s guy falls that would be a perfect fit, we never take them. Past round 2, we've sucked eggs. I'm not saying we should go by other teams/experts rankings, but it seems like anytime we are on the clock at pick 70-100, we take guys that no one else has listed as even draftable

I know exactly what you mean. This team gambles a lot in the draft, whether it be drafting injured guys in premium rounds, drafting character issue guys, or drafting complete unknowns that just about every time have done nothing. Thank goodness we have been nailing it in the first and second with top shelf talent lately.

Just me, but I wouldn't like this draft very much. Don't want to draft an injured player in the top 5, not when there are a number of other suitable options who may be just as good or better. Don't trust Bama RBs - Henry was abused in college being given a MONSTER workload. Hackenberg, nope. Don't rightfully know anything about the two 4th rounders.

Ideally, while trying to remain objective about where some of these guys will be available in the draft, I would look to target these guys.

1) Jalen Ramsey, Vernon Hargreaves
2) Kevin Dodd, Emmanuel Ogbah, Andrew Billings, A'shawn Robinson, Paxton Lynch (anyone of these)
3) Dac Prescott, Kenneth Dixon, Darian Thompson, Carl Nassib, Vernon Butler, Jaylon Smith(*if he falls due to injury, and the team thinks he can get back to 100% eventually)
4) BPA (with an eye towards RB and LB)

No matter what, if I am Dallas I am getting my secondary help at #4. And possibly look at secondary again in the 3rd and 4th if the right value is there. Definitely look to grab a QB in either rounds 2 or 3. I really want a pass rusher at #34, but would think long and hard about Lynch if he is there.
If we could get Robinson in the second I'd do backflips. I'm not saying he is the pick at 4, but he is one of the "dozen defensive players" I think is possible there (and Dodd and Ogbah not too far behind).

I said I was trying to remain objective, sheesh.

You may be right. But if those guys are gone then maybe guys like Sheldon Rankins, Reggie Ragland, Darron Lee, Jarran Reed fall? This draft has depth in the places Dallas is looking for it.
Well only 30 some odd guys can go before our second rounder, so SOMEONE good has to fall...

A #2 for Glennon? Not me. Maybe a 5th or 6th?
Man, I really think Glennon can play. He put up good numbers on just a terrible team. Next year's 2, I mean, if we drafted QB in the 2nd this year, who are we talking about, Cook or Hackenberg? I'd rather have Glennon than either of those guys

I worry next years 2 could be #37 again if we don't get a QB this year!!!

I'm pretty high on him too. I read some people question his desire to play football and be consistent. I guess I am being swayed by all the mock drafts I am reading of late - dumb, I know. A lot of them have him possibly falling to the second round these days. For the record, in the mock draft I did, I have him going at #12 to the Saints - but the Saints did just sign Fairley, so who knows?

So true, but it won't require a "nasty hit" and it doesn't even have to be retirement. He is a hit away from going out for the year on every play which ends our season as we sit here today. Every NFL player and certainly QB could go down at any time, but Romo is just so fragile right now. His body is just unable to take the pounding that pretty much every other QB can.

We have yet to come out of FA with a playable backup. If we play the draft the same way it pretty much tells you how we run a team...I still think a post draft trade could be an option

Sounds like you are writing the guy off. I know the hardest shots he took all yr were in the Miami game. He got up from those.

Hopefully Romo can avoid the shoulder being driven into the ground with 260 plus on top. You're right, only is wife and mom should wince every time he falls down.

No I'm not writing him off I'm saying if we don't prepare for what absolutely could happen and is much more likely to happen than for other teams we are morons and my point is it doesn't have to be a hard shot. The guy hasn't practiced on Wednesdays in a few years. The guy has had how many serious injuries over the last few years? In addition to the big ones he lost time for even if we won that playoff game a while back (Philly?) he doesn't play the next week after passing out in the shower for pain. He is fragile. There is no denying that and doing so would be akin to sticking your head in the sand. that doesn't mean he WILL get hurt, but it pretty much means there is a good chance of it. I said the same thing before last year.

This would be controversial of course. I brought him up as a possibility a while back. Kid can go get the QB...but what to do with him and when to take him is the question...I think he is the best pass rusher in the draft by a decent amount. I'm not saying I'd take him at 4, but I'm saying teams are going to consider him. This would be a target of mine if we got a good offer to trade back. I just don't think you can say his talent is quite enough to offset the concerns and take in the top 5 unless you don't like any of the QBs and see all the defenders as good but not great - the defensive guys are a little below what we usually see (more top 10 than top 4 talents) when compared to other years IMO. What I heard was his interviews at the combine did not go very well which will hurt a lot since he already had questions. I don't see any way this kid drops out of the first round and I think he surprises and goes 10-15 and wouldn't be shocked if even earlier.

Links not working. Here is a good link.
I've thought about him too, won't even be too upset if he's taken at 4. He's got the tent but his brain will drop him. If they trade back and lose on a player targeted Spence would be a great backup plan.

I don't see Spence in a Cowboys uni. Not after Gregory. Can't swing for the fence each time at the plate.

I'll bet many said that before Gregory too...
I didn't hear too many prior to that draft. Might have been one or two that didn't see the value taking him in the first round. Heck most still didn't believe me when I posted that he could fall to us in the first. Now, after crossing that bridge and seeing the position we are in now....I think it would border on the worst move we could make in a draft - right up there with drafting Manziel.

The main reason Gregory dropped was he failed a test at the combine. I'm gonna lay odds better than 90% of these players partake in illegal substances.

Dallas could go so many ways but if I was a fan I'd go Jack. I cant say I watched him play but what I read about him is that he is an elite coverage LBer. Sean Lee might be the best coverage LBer in the NFL right now. It would be such a huge advantage to have 2 great coverage LBers in todays pass first NFL.

But Ramsey with Scandrick coming back and last years #1 out of UConn would be pretty dope too.

My concerns with this is injuries. Will Jack stay injury free, we already know Lee has a hard time doing so.
I'd probably regret doing so in a few years, but I'd pass on Jack at 4. Trade back and steal him a few picks later and I'll be more inclined to pick him.
