Just curious how diverse peoples picks are going to be...
1. Pink Floyd The Wall
I am a sucker for concept albums, and I grew up on this album. Literally listened to this album from start to finish well over a hundred times from start to finish. And of course the singles like "In the flesh?", "Comfortably numb" and "Run Like Hell" were constant favorites over the years. IMO, the emotion and creativity behind this album make it one of the greatest albums of all time.
2. Exodus Bonded by Blood
Fuck Metallica and the rest of the Big Four. These guys are the original thrash metal band. Formed in 1980, and still going strong today. One of the innovators of the Bay Area Thrash Scene. It is unfortunate that most people don't even know these guys. With Metallica and Slayer going mainstream, these guys took the backseat over the years. But IMO they are the best thrash band and one of the main reasons I got into metal. Just listen to the title track :Bonded by Blood" and watch your face melt off while headbanging.
3. Opeth Damnation
While their early work is brilliant and great, it is very heavy and not appealing to many people. This album truly showcases the musicians this band came to be. Any true music fan should give this album a listen, the title is misleading. It is an album of all melodic songs by the band. They are originally a death metal band formed in 1990. Over the years they have incorporated jazz fusion elements as well as progressive rock and folk into their sound. They are the only band that could make a death metal song sound amazingly beautiful and pleasant to the ears. There is not one bad song on this album, and like I stated before, any fan of rock should check this out, you may not like their other albums due to the heaviness, but check this one out for sure.
Now let's see what you bastards like...
