The Redskins now have a logjam at outside linebacker, which could result in Trent Murphy changing positions. With the re-signing of linebacker Junior Galette, the Redskins now have more options at outside linebacker and that has increased their options at defensive end as well. Since the end of the season there has been talk internally about moving Murphy to defensive end. He'd need to add around 20 pounds or so, but it's still a move that's under consideration. With Galette, Ryan Kerrigan and Preston Smith, the Redskins have three outside linebackers ahead of Murphy. The Redskins also had discussed moving Smith to end, too.
It's an interesting question. With respect to Murphy, I hope everyone can play nice with respect to him.
