See Randymon this is the part of this conversation that I think you are missing. I don't think any of us are saying "Go get Kaepernick or RGIII and we are instant Super Bowl repeat champions." What we are saying though is that signing Osweiler to a huge deal has the risk of not only costing us the Super Bowl next year but many years after that because of having a bad QB deal. With Kaepernick or RGIII you know that it will be a lower offer plus something the Broncos can get out after a year.

I honestly do struggle to see us repeat in any of these scenarios. Repeating is probably harder to do than actually winning the Super Bowl. Hard to keep the team together and hard to have everything line up just perfect. I mean it is about having talent and luck show up at the same time. You have to be lucky injury wise for the most part. You have to get a few bounces to go your way. Throw in then trying to keep a locker room on the same page. Look at the Seahawks in they have a lot of grumblings about contracts and who is getting paid what happening since they won the Super Bowl. It is just tough no matter what you do.

At least for me though Osweiler has a cap ceiling that I would feel comfortable with the Broncos paying. For me that is $14 million...what is yours? Is there a point that it really begins to destroy the team to try and re-sign him because so much talent is having to walk out the door because we have a terrible QB contract?[/QUOTE

Well I think some of you just might have to go back and read some of your previous posts since SB then:). So you think we should not pay Brock 15 + mil, sign Kap for 5-6 mil one yr deal and roll the dice?. Who you going to get next yr if Kap craps out? Who you going to get to get you back to the SB that isn`t going to cost you even more in two yrs than Oz right now? Your going to rely on a qb in the draft in two yrs or Simiean. Who`s going to be available Cd if your "plan" doesn`t work? Which veteran QB ( and decent backups for that matter) that isn`t now locked up for the next 4 yrs and that is worth a shit are you going to try and fix things with if you throw Brock out of the equation? Maybe if the Kap experiment fails you can find another guy like McCown or Daniels on the market for 10 mil and try it again ? . I say you have to beat Houston offer to have a viable shot at SB this yr AND in the foreseeable future.. Look I understand that signing Oz and losing other players sucks and is still a gamble. But I really don`t think Elway sees any other options unless he`s suddenly changed his goals and thought process and thinks the position he`s played his whole career has now been overvalued and Joe Blow can win SB with a good D, then...OK :) If I saw any other option out there that gives Denver a chance this yr or after other than Brock and not have to pay him that much, I would jump up and down. Just don`t see it. I think the odds of sucsses drop significantly for Denvers future if Brockwalks. Wonder why I`m hearing on TV right now, that Denver and Elway are making another push to sign Brock??? Could it be Elway know his team is screwed for yrs if he walks and has to go get Kap????? Na!!!

@randymon You really are only viewing one side of this equation...What if Brock is the next Flynn, or Cassel, or the long list of FA QB's with very few starts that showed some promise that then tanked when they were signed to a big deal? I mean the list is long of FA QB's that just did not do well. We just saw this with Nick Foles where a year into his deal with the Rams they are already ready to move on after how bad he tanked.

At least with Kaepernick and RGIII they would have very little guaranteed money tied to them and we can cut ties if they don't work out. My guess is Brock is at least a 2-3 year commitment and if he doesn't pan out then we are screwed for a few years instead of just one season.

Randymon I think this is what you are missing in the equation. It is a huge risk either way the Broncos go. Osweiler's bombs well then good chance our team has to hit the reset button. Kaepernick or RGIII bomb well again we have to hit the reset button. My guess is though with Kaep and RGIII that we use a high draft pick on a promising QB so at least it gives us another option after this season of a guy that we have developed for at least a year.

I may be the only one but I'm am even wanting either Kapernick or Brock. As long as Denver gets one of these two I am happy.

Kap running Kubiak's bootleg should be very productive. it eliminates half the field read for him making the throws easier unless he launches his 90 MPH fastball to the short crosser.

Kapernick has a better team friendly contract.

Yeah for me I can see the upside for either choice and will be optimistic either way. I know both have a ton of question marks but I also know that Kubiak has made a career out of getting a lot out of the QB position.

In your holier than thou response, you STILL failed to answer the actual initial question: What do you think Denver should spend to keep Osweiler?

So, based on the rest of your answer, you're consigned to the thought that Denver has no feasible alternative to Osweiler, and will therefore suck regardless of who is at the helm. That at least is better answer than what I have read from you previously . However, as for your criticism of the knowledge of posters here vs. what you are spoon fed on TV, it's a bunch of crap. I'd put CD' s and DC's knowledge quite high, and higher than the majority of the talking heads you sit and watch all day.
OH God Walker. As far as your DC and CD comments.. I wish there was a "Brown Noser" emoticon on here. As far as your highlighted statements above Walker... show me a post of mine where I said anything different than that. The only thing I know I posted that you might of construed as "different" than that, maybe would be "Id rather have Simiean than any of those guys" or" maybe Elway thinks Simiean is workable if Oz walks"? Not much different if that`s what your refering too. I`ve been very consistent with not liking anything out there better than Brock. And your " actual initial question "... Geez! What do you think Walker ? If I`m saying pay Oz that means whatever it takes. Sorry I didn`t put an actual monetary price on it for you but I figured "pay the man" would suffice. Hab a nice day and :kissass::)

Legitimate question and concern. Let's hope with a better OL, an offseason to work together, and 7 games of starting he will survive the hits. But that's certainly one disadvantage of his size.

No I`m not missing your intentions Cd nor do I disagree with with most of it. There is that chance that he ends up the next Flynn. What if he doesn`t? If he does, at least he would serve as a decent back up that is being coveted more and more in the NFL. Maybe you can trade him?. Why is it that nobody freaks out about Cousins contract who, if you think about has only 10 games of "positive highlight reel" more than Oz and its pretty much against a very shitty NFC East division? Look at Bradford? Cant say he really impressed all year and look at what teams are willing to pay them BECAUSE they don`t see any viable options. They don`t see this hidden superstar that you guys think is in this draft or coming out anytime soon. They don`t see any of these FA qbs that you guys think are worth a 1 yr shot, unless it`s as a back up for them. God, good backups are a rarity now. These teams are willing to risk "sample size" money on these guys if you really look at their production and success they've had. Look I get it, your not telling me nothing that hasn`t crossed my mind.I just don`t think you get, what the guys running those teams get, when they look out there and see what their options are now and in next few yrs at least. Everything is a risk.I`m saying Brocks odds are worth it and you guys say no. I can live with that :)

I figured "pay the man" would suffice

Then these arguments are worthless and we should move on. It is that a lot of your posts make the argument that those not in the "pay the man" camp are advocating for RG3 or Kaep instead and that those guys would be worthless. In reality, few have said they want RG3 or Kaep over Brock. We are not willing to "pay the man"

Narrowing down all the bullshit to do we pay him or not. We know where everyone stands and any further argument is pointless. We can now stop bickering over the whole Brock Osweiler situation and wonder about other positions.

I know I am excited to see where everyone stands on our long snapper situation.
