I'm convinced Randymon isn't even reading the discussion about the QB's at this point. What is starting to tick me off though is he is cherry picking just to argue points against Kaepernick and RGIII without showing any understanding of the discussion as a whole. And I'm still waiting for the answer to my question about what he thinks Osweiler is worth.

So, I will now ask a SECOND question: Randymon, who do you think Denver should commit to as a starting QB if the Broncos fail to retain Osweiler? I doubt I will see an answer to either question at this point, but it's always worth a shot.
First off there Mr Grumpy, never saw your question. It`s hard to keep up on this board now with all the activity these days so sorry if I missed your question your highness!. First question... I`m only speaking to not only what I`ve witnessed of the two as far as their play ( when they`ve played since their one good yr in the league ) but I also listen to all the assessments being given about these guys and I just have to assume most of them are more qualified than anyone on this board. Like I said in another post, Ive been watching a heavy dose of everything football ( and reading articles ) since the SB and all the negatives about these two far exceed the positives. So if you want to blame someone for all the "hate" if you will on these two, blame social media, not me. Second question..... I have no idea. As far as I`m concerned, if Oz walks Denver is fucked. No chance at repeat. Maybe if they got Fitz they would have shot. There isn`t anybody else out there in FA or draft that will give Denver that shot. I never said that I saw anybody out there to replace Brock. I`ve also said I don`t know for sure if Brock is the answer, The only thing I have kept saying is that I don`t see a QB out there that gives Denver a better chance then Brock. Me no see the guy!!!! Maybe like DC and Cd you think Kap or RG3 or Daniels or some rookie can come in here and "poof" SB repeat here we come will happen. Sorry, but I don`t. Anything else your Highness? :)

Somebody put this comparison out there and I kind of like it...

Seems like Oz=Brian Griese
Kaepernick=Jake Plummer

Not perfect comparisons but one was more of a pocket passer and the other more athletically gifted.

See Randymon this is the part of this conversation that I think you are missing. I don't think any of us are saying "Go get Kaepernick or RGIII and we are instant Super Bowl repeat champions." What we are saying though is that signing Osweiler to a huge deal has the risk of not only costing us the Super Bowl next year but many years after that because of having a bad QB deal. With Kaepernick or RGIII you know that it will be a lower offer plus something the Broncos can get out after a year.

I honestly do struggle to see us repeat in any of these scenarios. Repeating is probably harder to do than actually winning the Super Bowl. Hard to keep the team together and hard to have everything line up just perfect. I mean it is about having talent and luck show up at the same time. You have to be lucky injury wise for the most part. You have to get a few bounces to go your way. Throw in then trying to keep a locker room on the same page. Look at the Seahawks in they have a lot of grumblings about contracts and who is getting paid what happening since they won the Super Bowl. It is just tough no matter what you do.

At least for me though Osweiler has a cap ceiling that I would feel comfortable with the Broncos paying. For me that is $14 million...what is yours? Is there a point that it really begins to destroy the team to try and re-sign him because so much talent is having to walk out the door because we have a terrible QB contract?

I don't get the Fitz love either. Isn't very mobile, doesn't have the strongest of arms, is definitely one of the smartest Qb's in the league. Not sure how he fits in a Kubiak style offense and also monetarily. I would much rather take a shot with Kaep at 12 mm. There are reports that is exactly what Denver intends to do if Oz walks. I'll defer to Elway and Kubiaks expertise and evaluations in this area. We are the reigning Super Bowl champs

In your holier than thou response, you STILL failed to answer the actual initial question: What do you think Denver should spend to keep Osweiler?

So, based on the rest of your answer, you're consigned to the thought that Denver has no feasible alternative to Osweiler, and will therefore suck regardless of who is at the helm. That at least is a better answer than what I have read from you previously. However, as for your criticism of the knowledge of posters here vs. what you are spoon fed on TV, it's a bunch of crap. I'd put CD' s and DC's knowledge quite high, and higher than the majority of the talking heads you sit and watch all day.

Fitz is a career journeyman. He can get you maybe to 6-8 wins, but he's really not anything else. He hit his ceiling long ago, and is a worse fit for Kubiak's offense than Manning. I fail to see how Fitz is more than a high priced backup.

Fitz will make a living being a stop gap QB. Guy you can start but move on the next year or have a young guy learning behind him ready to take over.

He is a guy that doesn't play beyond his ability. If we get him it is with the idea that he won't turn the ball over and we will once again lean upon our defense. The big difference between him and Osweiler will be the number of years you commit to him. You bring in Fitz with the idea of developing a draft pick for a year or two. Yeah not my favorite option either.

I still think we are gonna re-sign Brock. Fact that we have re-opened is a great sign.

Good move for Falcons. They are really focusing on that OL and LB core this FA.

And a blind squirrel still finds a nut now and then.

I see that more as an outlier. I expect to see a regression back toward the mean this season.

I am not sure a blind squirrel rattles off 10 wins with his team during the season from the QB crew, nor am I calling Fitz a "Great" QB... Just saying he won 10 last year... You said he wins 6-8 a year. Just wanted to point that out is all. I agree with your rundown on him.

Eagles sign Rodney McLeod.

He reminds me a lot of our own Darian Stewart.
